What happens when accounting expertise meets the power of AI? You get a room full of professionals rethinking how we analyze, decide, and lead. 💡

The recently concluded “Beyond the Numbers: AI-Powered Decision Making for Business Leaders and Accountants” last Friday, August 28, 2026, at Cebu Parklane International Hotel brought together CPAs and business leaders for a full day of meaningful insights, practical discussions, and thought-provoking conversations on the role of AI in today’s evolving business landscape.

With Atty. Bethuel V. Tanupan, CPA as our speaker, participants explored how AI can go beyond automation and become a powerful tool for better analysis, sharper judgment, and smarter decision-making.

And judging by the room, everyone was locked in. 👀📚

✨ Fun, focused, and moving forward!

PICPA Cebu Chapter held its 2nd Monthly Regular Board of Directors Meeting today at the Cebu Parklane International Hotel, bringing together the Board for another productive day of discussions, planning, and collaboration.

Leading the meeting was Chapter President Atty. Kim M. Aranas, together with the officers and directors who were physically present:

• Jude Vincent Cruz – President-Elect
• Shannen Tan – Vice President for Membership
• Jollybee Del Rosario – Vice President for Professional Development
• Nino David Angelo Astrero – Treasurer
• Stephen Villaver – Assistant Secretary
• Michell Rose Amizola – PRO I
• Janine Tayabas – PRO II
• Ivy Lubiano – Sectoral Director for Education
• Stewart Herbie Po – Sectoral Director for Public Practice

Joining virtually were:
Atty. Grethel Villarubia – Vice President for Administration
Jovamar Mendoza – Secretary
Earl Minerva – Sectoral Director for Commerce and Industry
Rio Vestil – Sectoral Director for Government.

Also present was the Chapter’s Executive Director, Ms. Sugar B. Sagarino.

The meeting covered the Chapter’s fiscal matters, ongoing programs, and upcoming activities, with discussions centered on strengthening member engagement, creating meaningful professional development opportunities, and advancing the accounting profession in Cebu.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a PICPA Cebu meeting without a few good laughs along the way! 💚 From serious discussions to lighthearted moments, today was a great reminder that productive work is always better when done together.

As we move forward with FY 2026–2027, the Board remains committed to collaboration, professional excellence, and meaningful service to our members and stakeholders.

Empowering Change: PICPA Cebu at the PALSCON Regional Convention

The call for a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy took center stage today, August 19, 2026, as the Philippine Association of Legitimate Service Contractors (PALSCON) convened its Regional Conference at the Montebello Garden Hotel in Cebu City.

Among the highlights of the event was a Fireside Chat on “Adopting the Advocacy of Circular Economy,” which brought together industry leaders and sustainability advocates to discuss practical pathways toward responsible business practices and long-term environmental stewardship.

Representing the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Cebu Chapter, its President, Atty. Kim Aranas, served as one of the panelists and underscored the critical role of accountants in advancing sustainability initiatives. He emphasized that accountants are uniquely positioned to guide organizations in the responsible stewardship of resources, measuring impact, and integrating sustainability into business decision-making.

Atty. Aranas also highlighted PICPA Cebu's commitment to promoting the principles of the circular economy across its four sectors—Public Practice, Education, Government, and Commerce & Industry—while extending its advocacy to businesses, communities, and policymakers.
