SON OF KALINGA PROMOTED TO POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL OF THE PNP
A proud son of Kalinga has reached another milestone in his distinguished career in law enforcement as Villaflor S. Bannawagan was officially promoted to the rank of Police Brigadier General in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The promotion took place during the Oath-Taking and Donning of Ranks Ceremony for Newly Promoted Star-Ranked Officers held on June 15, 2026, at Camp Crame in Quezon City. The ceremony was officiated by Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the PNP, and was attended by members of the PNP Command Group, senior officers, and the families of the promotees.
PBGEN Bannawagan was among five senior police officers elevated to the rank of Police Brigadier General. Also promoted during the ceremony were Julius C. Suriben, Jemuel F. Siason, Roland V. Bulalacao, and Bobby S. Abao.
For the people of Kalinga and the wider Cordillera region, Bannawagan's promotion is a source of pride and inspiration. His rise to the rank of Brigadier General reflects years of dedicated service, professional excellence, and unwavering commitment to protecting communities and upholding the rule of law.
Earlier that same day, the PNP also conducted the Simultaneous Oath-Taking and Donning of Ranks of Newly Promoted Police Lieutenant Colonels (PLTCOLs) under the 2nd Quarter CY 2026 Continuous Promotion Program at Bulwagang Lapulapu, Camp Crame.
A total of 75 newly promoted Police Lieutenant Colonels took their oath of office. Forty officers from the National Headquarters, National Support Units, and the National Capital Region Police Office were administered by the Chief, PNP through Bernard M. Banac, while 35 officers from the Police Regional Offices and the Philippine National Police Academy were simultaneously administered by their respective heads of offices and units.
The promotion ceremonies underscored the PNP's continuing commitment to recognizing merit, leadership, and dedication within its ranks. As a newly promoted Brigadier General, PBGEN Bannawagan is expected to take on greater leadership responsibilities and contribute to strengthening the implementation of the PNP's Focused Agenda.
He joins the growing number of Cordilleran leaders serving in key positions within the national police organization, demonstrating that determination, integrity, and public service remain pathways to success for many sons and daughters of the highlands.
With his promotion, PBGEN Villaflor S. Bannawagan is expected to help advance professionalism, operational excellence, and community-centered policing as the PNP pursues its vision of a "Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas"—delivering service that is fast, honest, and felt by every Filipino.
