Most hosts love to rant on social media
"Ang daming demands."
"Ang daming reklamo."
"Ninakaw yung towel."
Pero pag tinanong mo:
"Magkano nightly rate mo?"
"₱1,000."
Ayun. Tapos ang usapan.
Ganito kasi yan..
This is based on my years of property rental experience.
Budget pricing doesn't just attract budget-conscious travelers.
It attracts people who expect the most while paying the least.
Why?
Because low prices send them a message:
"My rules are flexible."
"My boundaries are negotiable."
"And I'll do anything for one more booking."
Watch the pattern:
• Early check-in? Libre.
• Late check-out? Pwede na.
• Extra towels? Sige lang.
• Extra amenities? Bigay na rin.
Then one small issue...
May ipis?
⭐ 1-star review.
Maingay ang kapitbahay?
2 AM angry message.
May maliit na stain?
Refund demand agad.
And the host?
Stressed.
Nagmamakaawa sa support.
Nagre-reply ng mahabang explanation.
For what?
For ₱1,000 minus platform fees minus kuryente minus laba?
Magkano na lang natira sayo?
Now compare that to the host charging ₱3,500.
Same occasional imperfections.
But a completely different experience.
When guests invest more, they usually behave differently.
Instead of:
"SCAM! 1 STAR!"
You'll hear:
"Hi, may napansin lang kami. Baka pwede ma-check."
Why?
Because they have skin in the game.
People don't value what they get for the lowest value.
Free = disposable.
Paid = precious.
Heavily invested = sacred.
When you charge low, you attract:
~ Tire kickers
~ Complainers
~ People who have nothing better to do than leave 1-star reviews
When you charge premium, you attract:
~ Serious people
~ People who did their research
~ People who will fight to make it work (because their money is on the line)
Price is a filter.
The guests paying the least...
Often cost you the most.
So raise your prices.
Set stronger boundaries.
Lose the guests who cost you more than they pay.
Because sometimes...
The bookings you're afraid to lose...
Are exactly the ones your business needs to outgrow.
