Palawan is considered one of the safest areas in the Philippines when it comes to earthquakes. Unlike other regions that are located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, Palawan is situated on a more stable part of the Earth’s crust, far from major fault lines. Because of this unique geological position, the island rarely experiences strong seismic activity or destructive tremors.
The minimal earthquake occurrence in Palawan contributes to its reputation as a secure place for residents and tourists. Scientists note that while minor tremors may still happen occasionally, they are usually weak and pose little risk. This geological stability makes Palawan not only a top travel destination but also a potential model for sustainable and disaster-resilient development in the country.
