es away from Cloud 9 in Barangay Catangnan, home of the country’s famed surfing waves. Also, Jadestar is just a five-minute drive to the town proper of General Luna. A combination of good location, wide array of accommodation options, and personalized services make Jadestar an ideal base whether for doing business away from the office or solely for rest and recreation. It directly faces the beach and is surrounded by coconut trees, adding to the tranquility of the place. Jadestar, a family-run business, is one of the longest-running resorts in General Luna. It was established on October 7, 1990 by couple Delfin and Anita Quintas. With their passion for providing the best service to visitors, what started out as a resort with just one cottage made of nipa, bamboo, and wood developed into now a wide array of accommodation options. Jadestar has 10 bungalow-type rooms perfect for solo, couple, family, and groups (barkada). The room rates range from P1,200 to P7,000. Maintaining the countryside vibe, it offers kubo-style accommodations. Huts are available for P1,200 to P2,999 per night, good for two people. Each room is equipped with the basics: a bed with a mattress, a bathroom with toilet and faucet, small closet, and a balcony. It’s simple, just like how island life is. When you’re at Jadestar, expect the presence of friendly locals, picturesque beach, the rhythmic crashing of the water as the wind blows in from the ocean. Air-conditioned family rooms for five people are available at P2,500-P3500, while rooms for eight people are also available for P4,500. Extra mattress can be had for only P450. The dorm is also perfect for surfers, backpackers, and budget travelers who can cowboy it up in a shared space for 15 to 20 people. Standard rate is at P550 per head per night for aircon accommodation. The resort has a kitchen, dining area, a common bathroom and shower area. Also, the resort has free garage. Staff workers, who are all members of the same family, are also willing to assist guests with their requests, such as laundry, sightseeing/island hopping bookings, car/motorcycle rentals, room service. Free Wi-Fi is available at a designated area. The resort also offers land tour and island hopping packages ranging from P1,500 to P5,500 for five to 10 people. The islands of Guyam, Daku and Naked are at least 20-minute boat ride from the resort, while the popular Sohoton Cave is over an hour away. Guests may cook their meals as the resort does not offer food at the moment. Cooking rates (for gas) depend on the number of viands. Cebu Pacific Air, Philippine Airlines, and Sky Jet service daily flights to Siargao from Cebu, Davao, and Manila. In addition to direct flights, Cebu Pacific Air also operates daily flights to Surigao City, which is just a ferry ride from Siargao Island. Dapa town, where the main port terminal is located, is a 25-minute drive from the resort.
