There are places you visit once and forget… and then there are places that quietly stay with you.
Sanare in Lunotan, Gingoog City, is one of those for me.
As a mom, I’ve come to appreciate spaces not for how grand they look, but for how they make us feel as a family. And their unit 3… it just feels like home. The kind of home where no one is ever really “far.” Someone can be cooking, another curled up in the living area, someone resting in the bedroom, and yet we’re all still together. You can hear each other, talk to each other, laugh across spaces without needing to call out. That kind of closeness is rare these days.
I didn’t expect to fall in love with something as simple as sheets, but I did. There’s something about climbing into a bed that smells clean and feels fresh, especially in a mountain staycation where that’s not always guaranteed. The towels too… soft, clean, and comforting in the smallest, most thoughtful way.
It’s not perfect, and you’ll notice a bit of wear here and there. But honestly, that didn’t bother me. If anything, it made me appreciate how well it’s taken care of. You can tell it’s been cleaned, prepared, and made ready with intention for the next family who walks in.
I do wish there were a few more activities around, especially for kids. But maybe that’s also the beauty of it. Sanare gives you space to slow down. To cook your own meals, to gather around, to just be present. (Yes, they have a refrigerator, which makes it easier when you bring your own food. Units 3 and 4 both have one, which we really appreciated. Not so sure about Units 1&2)
Four units, simple and quiet, welcoming both couples and big families… but somehow, it still feels personal.
Sanare will always have a special place in my heart. Not because it’s extravagant, but because it gave us something we don’t always get… uninterrupted time together.
