Metro Manila’s heat index is expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius on Thursday based on the forecast of DOST-PAGASA.

The state weather bureau also reported that Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte recorded the highest computed heat index on Thursday at 47 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Borongan, Eastern Samar may experience a heat index of 45 degrees Celsius, while Sangley Point, Cavite could reach 44 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA urged the public to take precautionary measures against extreme heat, warning that temperatures under the “danger” level may cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
