The Suite Life at Hotel Del Rio

The Suite Life at Hotel Del Rio A space to share and recall all happy moments and core memories at Iloilo’s most historic hotel. This is a community page.

Please visit Hotel Del Rio’s official FB page for reservations: https://www.facebook.com/hoteldelrioiloilo When Manolet Loring and Milly Ledesma-Loring established Hotel Del Rio in 1965, it was the first hotel of its class in Iloilo City. In those early days, hosting guests, including balikbayans, celebrities and locals, was a family affair. Milly would even be found directing kitchen staff and wa

shing dishes by hand. Their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews would grow-up helping around the hotel. Through the years, the hotel has been part of countless celebrations, from birthdays to weddings; and annual traditions, including New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day. The "hotel by the river" looks vastly different today from the way it looked when its doors opened in 1965, but at its heart remains family and the importance of extending that feeling of home to everyone who walks through its doors. We hope you'll share your own happy and "suite" HDR memories with us.

Here’s the beautiful Milly Loring.

Long before she became a wife, mother, and businesswoman, she was a cover girl. Being featured on the cover of Yuhum magazine was a special kind of recognition back in the day.

She’s pictured here with her whole life ahead of her—a life eventually shaped by both great fortune and deep loss. She came of age in a time when women attended finishing school, trained primarily to become “good housewives.” She turned down an invitation to join Sampaguita Pictures, married her first love, had a son, and lived on a hacienda.

She became a widow far too young when her first husband tragically died in a single-engine plane crash. Left to raise her son on her own, without support from her in-laws, she leaned on the strength of her family and her own grit. Love found her again. She married, had two more sons, helped build a successful business, traveled the world, and took immense joy in watching her grandchildren grow.

Her greatest heartbreak was outliving her eldest son. Her greatest legacy was leaving behind an incredibly tight-knit, loving family—and a heritage of gracious hospitality at Hotel del Rio.
