THE EXEMPLARY GOVERNOR

As Ilocos Norte "graduates" from community quarantine on May 16, The Ilocos Times recognizes the programs, activities, and decisive action of Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc.

Under his leadership, the Province of Ilocos Norte:

-Promptly secured provincial borders; swiftly implemented a Total Lockdown.

-Was among the first LGUs to require the wearing of facemasks.

-Provided transportation for healthcare workers and patients; PPE and food for frontliners

-Quickly but carefully prepared quarantine facilities.

-Distributed food packs to all 23 municipalities and cities.

-Set up the Kadiwa Express to help farmers sell surplus crops, and for consumers to buy affordable and nutritious food at discounted prices.

-Reintroduced Nutribun to keep children well-nourished.

-Implemented Cash-for-work, Tourism Livelihood Continuity, and Saguip Manggagawa programs.

-Immediately requested IATF for a modified GCQ in Ilocos Norte to better protect public welfare.

-Only had two confirmed Covid-19 cases, with no deaths. No new confirmed case since
March.

-Will no longer be under community quarantine by May 16.
