Hiwaga Tales: Guardians of the Night

Long ago, when the vineyards of Twin Lakes were still young, eight mystical beings watched over the land. They were feared in old stories, but here, they reveal their gentler side — protectors of children, families, and the magic of imagination.

In the olden times, the Engkanto are supernatural beings in Filipino folklore, believed to inhabit forests, mountains, rivers, and other natural places. Legends describe them as mysterious spirits who may appear human-like and can either help or mislead people who enter their territory.

This time, the Engkanto are said to dwell in enchanted groves. At Twin Lakes, they appear as gentle garden artists, painting flowers with colors unseen and teaching children how to craft leaf crowns. Guests discover that every bloom holds a secret blessing, and the Engkanto’s gift is showing us the beauty hidden in nature.

In the olden times
The Tikbalang is a mythical creature in Filipino folklore, traditionally described as a tall, human-like being with the head and legs of a horse. Legends say it lives in forests and mountains, where it may confuse travelers and lead them astray. It is one of the most recognizable creatures in Philippine mythology.

This time
The Tikbalang, with his towering horse like figure, is said to confuse travelers. But at Twin Lakes, he becomes a playful guide, leading kids through Mystic Trails filled with riddles and hidden treasures. His laughter echoes in the night, reminding guests that sometimes getting “lost” means finding adventure.
