Local legend credits Maria Makiling, the diwata said to watch over the mountain. Geology offers its own explanation: Mt. Makiling is a dormant volcano, and the last of that ancient energy still moves quietly beneath its slopes, warming the springs that shaped this town.

Myth or science, the source has never changed. Every resort here, ours included, is simply borrowing what Makiling has given for generations.
