Round 6 happened last week. May 18–22, Manila.

The EU and the Philippines are in the final stretch of their Free Trade Agreement negotiations, and the EU Ambassador himself said he "would not be surprised" if this is the last round.

That's not diplomatic boilerplate. That's as close to a closing signal as these things get.

Here's what's on the table this week: government procurement, agricultural trade, and renewable energy. Three sectors where Belgian companies have serious depth. Pharmaceuticals, logistics, port infrastructure, green tech.

Belgium doesn't just trade with the Philippines. It builds things here.
If the deal signs in Q3 as targeted, it replaces the GSP+ scheme set to expire in 2027, and opens permanent, rules-based access to 450 million EU consumers for Philippine exporters.

For Belgian businesses already operating here, or watching from Brussels, this is the agreement that changes the math.

The BFBC will be tracking this closely. Follow along as Round 6 unfolds.

80 years, one glowing 🌎 and yes, The Smurfs showed up at Belgian Days! 🇧🇪🇵🇭

Yesterday, we kicked off the first edition of Belgian Days with the lighting of the iconic 🌎 at SM Mall of Asia, marking 80 years of Belgium–Philippines diplomatic relations.

The Smurfs made the moment even brighter.
