Rotary Club of Paco, Manila

Rotary Club of Paco, Manila We are part of Rotary International's global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and leaders.

The year 1992 could be indubitably be marked as the spawning stage for the Rotary Club of Paco Manila. For it was sometime in that year, during the incumbency of District Governor Joey Benedicto, that the organization of the Rotary Club of Paco Manila was conceptualized. The ever optimistic expectations of the prospective members of the new club were seemingly bolstered one day in January 1992. Th

en Governor Johnny Aruego was on a visit to the Rotary Club of Panday Pira. On that occasion, Panday Pira’s Edmond “Mon“ Chua confided to Rufino “Raffy” Sison that the birth of Rotary Club of Paco Manila was inevitable and would be pulsating reality. Its initial membership would be drawn from Panday Pira itself. The envisaged grouping was at once met with unbridled enthusiasm by those who are privy to the suggestion broached to Governor Johnny Aruego. Eight months later, or in September 1992, to be precise, the ground work ultimately geared toward the consummation of what had been previously ideated, was laid down. President Sammy “Sam” Rosete of Panday Pira and “Mon” Chua recommended to Governor Aruego the appointment of “Raffy” Sison as the Governor’s Special Representative for the setting up of the Rotary Club of Paco Manila, as conceived. In effect, “Raffy” Sison was virtually an ad hoc committee of one. On October 7, 1992, at about 7:00pm, just a few days after the first Extension Committee conference, the first organizational fellowship was held at the Orchid House. Vic Victoriano and Ernie Sanches were the guest speakers at the second organizational assemblage on October 14, 1992. To give continued and sustained impetus to the smooth disposition of the Rotary Club of Paco Manila, the cluster, on October 21, 1992, converged once more in joint fellowship. The new group then got together on November 19, 1992, at the Manila Midtown Hotel in Pedro Gil St., Manila. Then and there, after some enlightening preliminaries, they elected their officers for the Rotary Year 1992-1993. They were Rufino “Raffy” Sison, President, Gerald “Gerry Davis, Vice-President, “Ben” Mojica, President-Elect and Treasurer, Diana “Diane” Gonzales, Secretary, Angel “Jun” Zamora, Assistant Secretary and Auditor, Pedro “Pete” Bautista, Sgt-at-Arms and Felicisimo “Fely” Cabigao, Legal Counsel. The Directors were: Francisco “Pax” Lapid, Club Service A; Margaret “Marianito ”Nito” Siasat, Youth Service and Jose “Joe” Arroyo, International Service. Rotary Club of Paco Manila was officially chartered on December 28, 1992 by Rotary International with Charter No. 29166.

Congratulations to our partner-in-service, the Paco Volunteer Fire Brigade, Inc., on their 40th Anniversary and Induction of Officers!

Held at the Paco Citizen Academy last October 26, 2025, the celebration honored four decades of unwavering service and heroism in protecting lives and property in our beloved community.

It was made even more meaningful with our very own RC Paco Manila Past Presidents at the helm — outgoing President Victor Lau passing the torch of leadership to incoming President Michael Hui Go.

It was truly a grand and heartwarming affair as families, friends, and the Paco Rotarians, led by President Jimmy Son Go, came in full force to show their support to our brave firefighters — true community heroes who embody the spirit of service above self!

President Jimmy Son Go joined fellow Rotarians from Rotary International District 3810 in spreading awareness and taking action to end polio. On Saturday, October 25, a motorcade from the Luneta Grandstand to Sta. Ana Hospital kicked off the district’s World Polio Day 2025 observance — culminating in a meaningful collaboration with Sta. Ana Hospital to boost oral vaccination among children and move closer to a world free from polio.

The Rotary Club of Paco Manila proudly celebrated the grand return of our Mid-Autumn Family Dice Game Lunch last October 11, 2025 — a festive gathering overflowing with Paco Rotarians and their families, led by President Jimmy Son Go and his family! 🥮💛 Everyone enjoyed a sumptuous lauriat lunch prepared by the expert chefs of our official home, New Fortune Mansion Seafood Restaurant, and took home special mooncakes and exciting prizes! 🎲✨

🌸 The Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates reunion and gratitude, inspired by the legend of Chang’e, the Moon Goddess. The Mooncake Dice Game (Bo Bing), which began in Fujian, adds joy and laughter to the tradition — symbolizing fortune, unity, and shared blessings.

Congratulations to our lucky winners, especially PP Val Rosales and PP Oliver Alvarez, our grand champions of the day!
