A taste of Japanese tradition

This post comes from our sister hotel in Japan,
Otaru Asari Classe Hotel in Hokkaido 🇯🇵

They are celebrating Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Day) with a special dish called Hina Chirashi 🌸

Hinamatsuri is a traditional Japanese celebration held every March, where families pray for the health and happiness of girls.

Chirashi sushi is colorful, joyful, and meant to be shared —
a reflection of Japanese culture and seasonal traditions.

❄️ Hokkaido right now:
Otaru, Hokkaido is extremely cold at the moment,
with average temperatures around –3°C and heavy snowfall.
A completely different world from sunny Subic Bay 🌴

At Classe Inn Subic Bay,

Their restaurant is now featuring a monthly winter lunch fair,
perfect for the cold season in Hokkaido ❄️

For February, they are serving a variety of warm Japanese hot pot dishes, including:
🍲 Shiri-beshi-style hot pot
🍜 Chinese-style seafood hot pot
🍜 Special nabe udon

These dishes were especially popular during the winter buffet season
and are now available as part of a seasonal lunch fair.

❄️ Hokkaido right now:
It’s still very cold in Otaru, with winter temperatures and snow —
the perfect weather for comforting hot pot meals.

At Classe Inn Subic Bay,

A taste of Japanese tradition – Setsubun

This post comes from our sister hotel,
Otaru Asari Classe Hotel in Hokkaido, Japan 🇯🇵

They are introducing a special Ehomaki for Setsubun,
a traditional Japanese event held in early February.

👹 What is Setsubun?
Setsubun marks the change of seasons in Japan and is believed to be a day to drive away bad luck and welcome good fortune.
One of the traditions is eating Ehomaki — an uncut sushi roll — while making a wish for happiness and health in the coming year.

This Ehomaki is made with carefully selected Japanese beef and seasonal ingredients,
simple yet meaningful, just like many Japanese food traditions.

❄️ Hokkaido winter scenes:
Cold weather and snow remain part of everyday life in Otaru — a season deeply connected to Japanese food and customs.

These quiet traditions continue to inspire us as we look ahead in Subic Bay.
