As a fellow hands-on campsite owner who actually lives on the propertyโevery single line hit home.
We lived here for nearly two decades before we even thought about opening as a campsite. This place taught us how to listen. To the wind. To the trees. To the kind of silence you just can't buy.
And honestly? Everything you said is true.
Our feelings are valid. We're human beings first, business owners second. There's only so much patience to be given when people keep disrespecting the very place where you rest your head at night.
Tomorrow, we wake up and do it all over again. For them, it's a quick getaway. For us, it's just another day.
We don't know you personally, but we know you love your own space. And that's exactly why it stings when people lack self-awarenessโespecially when they're just passing through.
Thank you for writing this. Not just for the campers, but for all of us quietly holding everything together behind the scenesโwhose exhaustion never makes it into the pretty pictures.
Keep going. We got this Unplug Pine Forest, Baguio City. ๐
Itโs 11:52 PM.
Kagagaling ko lang sa pag-remind sa isang big group of young campers about quiet time. I already told them around 9 PM about it. Pero kailangan ko pa ulit lakasan boses ko tonight just to be heard. 2nd time ko na bumalik sa kanila.
Yung una, may iniwan silang trash, yung balat ng chips na kainan nila, right outside my cabin door. Sa table where everyone charges their phones and gadgets. When I got back and checked pa, meron pa pala silang iniwan sa side ng store, pinatong lang basta kung saan doon.
I don't post everytime may ingay sa forest or may pasaway...
But.. You know why this scenario in particular is a bit sensitive for me?
Because this isnโt just a venue for events and camping.
This forestโฆ is my HOME. ๐ฅน
My actual residence. Dito ako natutulog. Dito ako gumigising. This is the space I take care of every single day, not just for businessโbut because I live here along with my daughters.
And this is the part people donโt see. What we do not talk about.
They see the trees, the lights, the cozy setups, the โescape from the cityโ vibe.
But for me, this isnโt an escape.
This is my everyday life.
I stay up late so others can rest.
I listen for noise so others can sleep.
I walk around at night making sure everything is safe, calm, and in order.
Kasama ko a*o kong sh*tzhu na si Dolche minsan, si Rainbow pag nabulabog din.
And when I step in?
Meron at meron yung bibigyan pa ako ng attitude.
Biglang Iโm the rude one.
The killjoy.
โAng higpit naman.โ
All because I ask for basic respect.
Quiet time.
Clean as you go.
Pick up your trash.
Hindi lang ito rules ng campsite.
These are boundaries inside my HOME.
So when someone ignores quiet time, itโs not just noiseโit reaches my space.
When someone leaves trash behind, itโs not just kalatโitโs disrespect sa lugar na tinitirhan ko at ng pamilya ko.
This is the side of camping that people donโt talk about.
We always ask the campers,
โHow was your stay?โ
But rarely do we ask,
โHow is the one holding this space together?โ
And I cannot speak for all sites dahil I have also visited other sites and most owners do not stay there. May staff sila, may caretaker. Iba sa akin. May kasama man kami to assist, but they go home at 7pm after their duty. Ako at mga anak ko nalang ang naiiwan. And land owner, nasa ibang area. Ako talaga ang naka toka sa Unplug.
And I do not mind, because I love welcoming our guests. Iniisip ko, 5 to 6 months lang tayo mag welcome ng guests, events, or campers, so I give my all. This 2nd sea*on of Unplug especially 2026, I decided to live here na to make sure smooth lahat - dahil iba parin kapag hands on management.
To our guests, you should know.
Behind every peaceful night,
is someone who stayed awake to protect it.
And behind every clean forest,
is someone who quietly gets tired of reminding people to care.
So next time youโre in a campsite like this,
rememberโ
Youโre not just visiting a place.
Youโre stepping into someoneโs HOME.
Salamat sa lahat ng nagmamahal sa UNPLUG.
