Heaven has gained another angel.
In Loving Memory of Maria Lourdes “Malou” De Guzman (February 22, 1950 – June 9, 2026)
We pause to remember and celebrate the beautiful life of Maria Lourdes “Malou” De Guzman, one of the owners of mariejoy haven beach resort, who recently passed away.
For all of us at mariejoy haven, Malou was more than an owner - she was family. We will always cherish the years we shared with her and the love she poured into this place that she helped bring to life.
We remember how she dreamed of mariejoy haven. We watched her excitement as the resort slowly was being built and took shape. We witnessed the care she gave to every detail. From planting and nurturing the gardens to helping build a vision that became a reality, she left her mark everywhere.
The flowers that bloom, the trees that bear fruit and the peaceful beauty of mariejoy haven stand as living reminders of her patience, dedication and love. Every corner of this place carries a piece of her heart and her presence will always be felt by those who walk its shores and enjoy its serenity.
Though we grieve her loss, we are grateful for the memories she leaves behind - her generous kindness, her gracious warmth, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering belief in what mariejoy haven became today - a holiday paradise where guests and staff are treated like family and feel at home in nature.
To her beloved husband and co-owner, Emman, and to her family, please know that you remain in our thoughts and prayers. We pray for your strength, good health, comfort and many moments of peace and happiness as you carry her memory forward.
Malou, thank you for your love, your vision and the legacy you leave behind. You may no longer walk these shores with us but your spirit will forever be part of mariejoy haven just like Kuya Boy and Nanay Regina.
We love you. We miss you. And we will remember you always.
Rest peacefully in God’s paradise.
“The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Fresh and green are the pastures where He gives me repose. Near restful waters He leads me, to revive my drooping spirit.
He guides me along the right path; He is true to His name.
If I should walk in the valley of death, no evil would I fear. You are there with your rod and your staff; with these You give me comfort.’
- Psalm 23:1-4
