August 2026 Guidance Counselors Computer-Based Licensure Examination Results Released in One (1) Working Day

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 614 out of 930 passed the Guidance Counselors Computer-Based Licensure Examination given by the Board of Guidance and Counseling in N. C. R., Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Koronadal, Lucena, Rosales and Tuguegarao this August 2026. The results of examination with respect to seven (7) examinees were withheld pending final determination of their liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations.

The members of the Board of Guidance and Counseling who gave the licensure examination are Dr. Luzviminda S. Guzman, Chairperson; Dr. Elena V. Morada and Dr. Carmelita P. Pabiton, Members.

The results were released in one (1) day after the last day of examination.

Starting October 12, 2026, registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be done on-line. Please visit the official PRC website (www.prc.gov.ph) and follow the instructions for registration. Those who will register are required to bring the following: 1) Screenshot of system-generated Registration Form; 2) valid government-issued ID. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The date and venue of the oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees in the said examination WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER.

Here is how they make a difference every day:
👂 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: Through 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 to classmates and friends, offering them 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, and helping them 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝.

🚩 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬: With appropriate training and supervision, peer facilitators can 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 of emotional distress and 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 who may need professional assistance.

➡️ 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬: When a student's concerns go beyond the scope of peer support, facilitators act as a bridge, 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬 for proper assessment and intervention.

🧩 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞: Peer facilitators 𝐃𝐎 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 professional counselors. Instead, they 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 their work by offering 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 and ensuring 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬.

🗣️ To address recent public discussions, PGCA wants to make one thing clear: expanding our school mental health workforce is necessary to address the serious counselor shortage, 𝐁𝐔𝐓 it must not mean erasing professional boundaries 🚧.

🤝 𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭
🎓 School Counselors: Under RA 12080, this position is occupied by a Registered Guidance Counselor (RGC) or a Registered Psychologist. RGCs are regulated by the Professional Regulation Commission and possess the necessary graduate education, license, and legal authority to practice professional counseling ⚖️. They serve as the head of the school's Care Center 🏫.

🌱 School Counselor Associates (SCAs): This is a newly created, bachelor's-level support position designed to assist the School Counselor. SCAs play an essential role in preventive programs, mental health promotion, learner monitoring, and facilitating referrals 📋. However, they do not become licensed counselors by appointment and should not be represented to the public as substitutes for RGCs 🚫.

🔄 Importantly, if a Care Center only has School Counselor Associates, they are expected to facilitate referrals to a School Division Counselor when actual counseling is required.

The PGCA emphasizes that the solution is not "School Counselor versus School Counselor Associate," but rather 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲🧩. By ensuring roles are 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, we can provide a true continuum of care and protect the learners these laws were enacted to serve 🛡️. PGCA also calls upon the Department of Education to use precise terminology when implementing these roles 🎯.

📢 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
📈 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞, but 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬.

💪 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬, but do 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 them as licensed counselors.

Ordained in 1987, Fr. Ted has dedicated his life to family ministry, pastoral care, and the betterment of mental health and spiritual well-being in the Philippines. 𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒖𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈:

🕊️ 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: With an MS and a PhD in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College in Maryland, USA, as well as an MA in Theology, he has beautifully synthesized lessons from the counseling field with the Ignatian spiritual tradition. This synthesis 𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆 by addressing clients' holistic needs and fostering deeper emotional and spiritual resilience within the counseling practice.

🛤️ 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: For 32 years, he has led psychospiritual seminar-workshops and retreats, including Life’s Directions for young adults. His impactful retreat apostolate also includes programs such as 𝑶𝒏 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒆 (Integrating Sexuality and Spirituality); 𝑺𝒂𝒏 𝑱𝒐𝒔𝒆 (Spirituality for Men); 𝑨𝑮𝑰𝑴𝑨𝑻 𝒏𝒊 𝑨𝒑𝒐 (Integrating Power and Spirituality); 𝑺𝑬𝑹𝑽𝑰𝑹𝑬 (Spirituality of Service); 𝑩𝑨𝑺𝑨: 𝑩𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏 𝑨𝒌𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒂 𝑨𝒃𝒐𝒕-𝑻𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒘 (Sparking Imagination to Build Nation); and 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝑨𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚: 𝑴𝒂𝒚 𝑲 𝑲𝒂 𝑩𝒂? ❤️‍🩹 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝: Fr. Ted provides retreats and grief processing for the poorest of the poor, including the homeless and the widows and orphans affected by the extrajudicial killings of the drug war (𝑷𝒂𝒈𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒐𝒎). By extending professional care to society's most vulnerable, this work 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 from trauma, and 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 within the mental health community.

🎓 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 & 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: He currently serves as the 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐌𝐓-𝐂𝐄𝐅𝐀𝐌. For more than 20 years, he has taught at the Loyola School of Theology and acts as a professor, supervisor, and counselor at the Center for Family Ministries (CEFAM). Recently, he has joined the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC). 🛡️ 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞: He is an active Board Member and the Spiritual Director for CyberGuardiansPH, which rallies to make 𝐜𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 for children against child p**n and bullying. He spearheads healing and recovery activities for victim-survivors of cyberbullying and child p**nography. This crucial advocacy 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔 𝒗𝒖𝒍𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒔 from digital exploitation, setting a vital precedent for ethical and safe engagement in the digital age.

📚 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 & 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡: A regular speaker at PGCA conferences, he has authored books and manuals, including 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌𝒆𝒏𝒅, 𝑨𝑮𝑰𝑴𝑨𝑻 𝒏𝒊 𝑨𝒑𝒐 (Virtues and Values for Nation Building), and 𝑴𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑮𝒐𝒅’𝒔 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 (Pastoral Reflections). He also continues to conduct valuable qualitative and quantitative research on Filipino marriage, infidelity, parenting, and resilience. By providing evidence-based insights and cultural reflections, these works 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 and 𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝒑𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 of complex societal issues like resilience and family dynamics.
