Sumaguing Cave reopens

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐒

After its scheduled month-long closure, Sumaguing Cave is officially reopening to tourists today, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

The closure throughout September was implemented under the 2022 Revised Tourism Code of Sagada, which allows periodic closures of tourism sites to support proper management, conservation, and protection.

With the reopening, visitors may once again experience the natural beauty of one of Sagada’s most iconic destinations.

For the safety of visitors and the protection of the cave, all tourists are reminded to observe existing tourism guidelines and regulations and to follow the instructions of accredited guides and tourism personnel.

Please be informed that Echo Valley, Paytokan, Bokong Waterfalls, Nabas-ang to Mt. Ampacao, Sumaguing Cave, and Lumiang Cave will be temporarily closed on September 1, 2026, in observance of traditional community holidays.

Please be advised that Sumaguing Cave will be closed to tourists for the whole month of September pursuant to the provisions of the 2022 Revised Tourism COde of Sagada on closure of sites.

As per the latest update from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), all tours to outdoor tourism sites, including caving activities, remain temporarily SUSPENDED until further notice.

This precaution is being implemented to ensure the safety of all visitors, as recent rainfall has made trails and outdoor routes extremely slippery and potentially hazardous.

Guests are encouraged to enjoy Sagada's indoor attractions and activities, such as museums, cafés, local craft shops, coffee experiences, and other indoor tourism offerings while waiting for conditions to improve.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize everyone's safety. Further updates will be issued as soon as outdoor tours are deemed safe to resume.
