They visited me two years ago and fell in love with Busuanga. They returned with open hearts, bringing inspiration to The Village.

And welcome to Busuanga, Océane & Tanguy from France! It is their first time here in Palawan and they are LOVING island hopping!

The Village kitchen is on its way!!! I am so excited about this. I’ve never designed a space before so it will be my first time trying my hand at engineering what a functional small kitchen could work like (on a budget)!

I’ve been enjoying the process of researching examples and imagining possibilities. Our carpenter, Larry, is extremely skilled. Aside from the cinderblocks and the roofing, the materials are locally sourced as much as possible. The round timber was harvested from our land.

I would like to set up the kitchen so I can easily do live streams of what I am cooking and going ons in the kitchen. 

I have been told my whole life that I should open up a restaurant. That isn’t quite my plan for the space.

But I am feeling a bit of curiosity about an idea I have, to open up the kitchen for a shared community meal for only a set amount of people per night. Or maybe I can serve the food until it runs out. Perhaps even offer a sliding scale payment method.

Either way, it’s exciting, especially because I have been working hard on building two new raised garden beds that will be producing some delicious, organic vegetables to cook with in the future. 🥰

Hello, my name is Claire. I’m the founder of The Village Busuanga — a homestead, micro-farm, and cottages rental located in the heart of Salvacion Town.

The phrase “It takes a village” comes from an African proverb.
Doing anything meaningful, like raising children or growing food — takes a whole community. Not just one person.

The Village is a quiet spot, about an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Coron Town. We’re located on the west coast, in a town called Salvacion (which means salvation in Spanish).

Truthfully, The Village has become my salvation.
Since moving here over two years ago, I’ve been able to access a sense of freedom I don’t think is possible in the Western world.

In a way, I was saved.
The wisdom of this land brought me back to wholeness, peace, and these simple truths:

Nature is medicine.
Connection is healing.
A life lived slowly and with intention is a long and fulfilling life.
Food is best shared with others.

The Village was built slow and simple — a few bungalows, some wild gardens, and the kind of calm you’ll never find in Coron Town.

It’s a place to rest, explore, and feel like yourself again.

We share what we know.
We do what we can to support the local community.
And we move to the rhythms of nature.
