OFFICIAL STATEMENT — RED MANGROVE BEACH RESORT
We have seen the recent post circulating online regarding the welfare and living conditions of the animals at Red Mangrove Beach Resort, particularly Basha, our orangutan.
We take animal welfare seriously, and we want to clarify that our animals are deeply cared for by our team. Basha is not just an attraction to us; she is an animal under our care, and her welfare is important to us.
Regarding the video of our African wild dogs, the footage showing them separately was taken during a period of planned separation as part of our animal management and breeding considerations. We believe it is important to understand the full context before drawing conclusions from selected clips.
Our resort maintains permits and documentation relating to the animals under our care, which we are prepared to present to the appropriate authorities for verification. We also welcome proper assessment and constructive dialogue regarding our animal care practices.
While we respect the role of animal welfare advocates in protecting wildlife, we believe concerns should first be communicated directly to the facility whenever possible. A discussion with our team could help establish the facts, provide context, and allow any legitimate concerns to be addressed fairly before conclusions are shared publicly.
Short video clips may not fully represent an animal's daily care, environment, or management. We therefore encourage the public to seek complete information and allow the appropriate authorities to assess the situation objectively.
