CANADA’S VISA-FREE ENTRY LIST INCLUDES THE PHILIPPINES
The Philippines has been officially named among the countries that will be allowed visa-free entry to Canada beginning in 2026, following an announcement by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Under the new policy, qualified Filipino travelers will no longer need to apply for a traditional Canadian visitor visa that costs $100 CAD. Instead, they may enter Canada by securing an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), which costs only $7 CAD, or roughly ₱301.
Alongside the Philippines, other nations granted visa-free access include Thailand, Argentina, Costa Rica, Morocco, Panama, Seychelles, Uruguay, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.
TravelZilla Philippines clarified that the visa-free privilege applies strictly to air travel. Travelers entering Canada by cruise ship will still be required to obtain a regular visa. The eTA is also limited to “known travelers,” defined as individuals who have held a Canadian visitor visa within the past 10 years or those who currently possess a valid non-immigrant visa for the United States.
Applying for an eTA requires only a valid passport, an active email address, and a credit or debit card for payment. Once approved, the authorization is electronically tied to the applicant’s passport and remains valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. Payments made using Philippine-issued cards such as GCash, Maya, BPI, or BDO are automatically converted to approximately ₱305 to ₱320 to account for bank processing fees.
