🌊 HABAGAT CLEANUPS 2025 🌿

Every monsoon season, the southwest winds bring back what the sea has carried from far and wide. This year, our team at Langub Beach Resort continues to collect, record, and care. 💚

🪣 Collected so far:

509 sacks of organic debris

65 sacks of plastic debris
⚖️ Estimated total weight: 20,090–22,960 kg (≈ 20–23 metric tons)

These daily cleanups are part of our ongoing effort to document what the sea brings, so data can guide future coastal interventions for Sipalay. 🌴

Every sack tells a story of tides, travel, and shared responsibility.

🌊 Clean-Up Success! 🌊

We would like to sincerely thank the LGU for their support today. 💪 With their help, we were able to remove more than 50 sacks (50kgs each) of debris and driftwood from our shoreline as of this writing. We are projected to remove 5 tons more by the end of this day.

This effort keeps our coast clean, safe, and welcoming for both locals and tourists. 💙

WHY WE CLEAN EVERY DAY EVEN DURING LOW TRAFFIC

After Typhoon Odette, Langub Beach Resort staff and volunteers collected about 130 sacks of debris from our shoreline.

📦 That’s over 5 metric tons of waste.
♻ Plastics alone made up ~400 kg! Enough to fill a small room.
🌱 The rest was driftwood, fishing nets, and other mixed debris.

Where does it come from?
During storms and the Habagat season, strong southwest winds push floating debris toward Sipalay’s west-facing shores. Much of this waste comes from far beyond our city. Carried by rivers, ocean currents, and even neighboring islands.

Where does it go during Amihan?
When the winds shift (November–March), the sea pushes much of the floating debris away from our shore but it doesn’t disappear. It may end up on other coastlines, sink into the seabed, or drift into deeper waters, breaking down into dangerous microplastics.

💚 Our Commitment
Even during Habagat season, we clean daily, record what we collect, and share our findings. This data will help guide future city-wide interventions for cleaner coasts.
