The Department of Tourism (DOT) joins the nation in commemorating this Holy Week, an important religious tradition in the Philippines and a meaningful opportunity for Filipinos to reflect on the life, passion, and resurrection of our Creator, Jesus Christ.
This sacred season invites us to take a moment of peace and quiet as we reconnect with our faith as pilgrims through the traditional Visita Iglesia. This Season of Lent also lends a spotlight on the richness of our cultural expressions, spiritual depth of the Philippines, as well as our characteristic compassion as a people.
As we all take a brief pause, rest and reflection this Holy Week, the DOT reminds everyone to practice responsible and mindful travel, one that prioritizes safety and respect to local communities, culture, and the environment, while supporting local businesses and workers alike.
