Siargao looks incredible from above 🌊🌴 Miles of coconut palms line the roads, scattered islands dot the turquoise Pacific, and Cloud 9 breaks right over the reef.

As afternoon turns to golden hour, the whole island glows. Whether you’re here for the world-class surf, the quiet beaches, or the views, it’s easy to see why this place feels so special ✨

Nay Palad Hideaway is officially one of the best all-inclusive hotels in the world, according to The Times and The Sunday Times.

The sun hasn't cleared the mangroves yet, and our chef is already on the shore, haggling over the morning's catch with the fishermen who've known this coastline longer than we have. A few guests trail behind him, barefoot, coffee in hand, learning to read the tide the way locals do. By evening, that same catch becomes dinner — plated somewhere between East and West, alongside whatever came ripe on our farm that day.

This is the rhythm The Times noticed when they included us on their global list. We'd call it something simpler: a place where the day still unfolds the way nature intended, not a printed schedule.

Ten villas, one wild stretch of Siargao, and more ways to spend a morning than any guest has managed to exhaust.

Grateful for the recognition — and for every guest who's ever gone barefoot to find it.

Siargao, a tropical paradise at the Edge of the Pacific!

Siargao is small enough to drive around in a day, and most people who try end up stopping halfway. The road runs for kilometres beneath coconut palms planted generations ago, and the light coming through them changes every few seconds.

What shapes the island, though, is geography. Siargao sits on the eastern edge of the Philippines with nothing between it and the open Pacific. Swells travel thousands of kilometres uninterrupted before they reach the reef here. At Cloud 9 they stand up quickly and break hollow, which is why surfers have been arriving for more than thirty years, and why the island now counts over twenty named breaks along its coast and outer islands.

The water is generous in quieter ways too. Siargao lies inside the Coral Triangle, the most biodiverse marine region on earth. Sugba Lagoon sits to the north, enclosed by limestone and mangrove, its water an emerald green that will stay in your memory. On the east coast, the Magpupungko rock pools appear at low tide and are gone again by afternoon. Offshore, three small islands (Daku, Guyam and Naked) stand out, and we love showing them to our guests. Naked Island, visible from our shores, is nothing but a strip of white sand with no shade at all.

Behind everything stand the mangroves. Siargao holds the largest contiguous mangrove forest in the Philippines, and the 104 hectares beside Nay Palad include trees more than 350 years old. They shelter young fish before the reef takes over, and they hold the coastline together through typhoon season.

The island keeps its own pace, slower than most people arrive expecting. Nay Palad was built to keep it as well — ten villas under nipa roofs, a boat ready when the swell comes, and nothing that needs doing on time.

Resting between ancient mangroves and the open Pacific, the glass-walled sanctuary of Perlah Villa combines the craft of Filipino artisans with the vision of architect Daniel Pouzet, awakening calm, intimacy, and wonder through organic form; no straight lines, only shapes that echo the nature around them.

Small Is Beautiful 🌿 From the air, Nay Palad Hideaway is easy to miss. The roofs sit under the palm crowns, thatched in nipa, and from the air the whole place reads as forest with a pool cut into it. That was the intention from the beginning.

On the ground, the same logic holds. A coconut palm here bears fruit for sixty years or more, and almost nothing from it goes to waste. The water is served cold by the pool. The flesh goes to the kitchen. The oil is pressed on site for the spa. Husks and fronds return to the farm, or become part of a roof.

The farm is a short walk inland. Planters edged in woven bamboo, herbs and greens growing under papaya trees. Kitchen and garden waste goes back into that soil through composting and bokashi fermentation, and comes out again as lunch: a short loop, and a visible one.

Beyond the sand, the coral is rebuilding after years it did not deserve. We raise corals in an underwater nursery until they are strong enough to go home, and the domes they settle on are hand-pressed, often by children, who take the job very seriously.

Behind everything stands the mangrove forest. One hundred and four hectares, parts of it more than 350 years old. A single tree there will capture over 300 kilograms of carbon in its lifetime and shelter young fish before they move out to the reef. The Pagoda looks across all of it.

Since 2016, we have worked to a framework borrowed from The Long Run, and to an older idea of our own. Small is beautiful. Ten villas, one island, and as much given back as we can manage.
