The Surigao Metropolitan Water District (SMWD) is currently undertaking major transmission pipeline works to improve water supply, system flow, and pressure๐Ÿšฐ:

1. Interconnection of 14-inch ร˜ Steel Transmission Pipeline at Sitio Hubasan, Brgy. Mat-i.
2. Leak Repair of 14-inch ร˜ Ductile Iron (D.I.) Transmission Pipeline near Kinabutan Bridge II, Junction of Brgy. Togbongon.
3. Leak Repair of 14-inch ร˜ Ductile Iron (D.I.) Transmission Pipeline at Proper, Brgy. Mat-i.

These activities are essential to reduce water losses, improve transmission efficiency, increase system flow and pressure, and maximize the available water supply of SMWD.

SMWD continues to strengthen its water transmission system to provide a more reliable and efficient water service to its concessionaires.

In response to the prolonged drought caused by El Niรฑo, which continues to affect Surigao City and nearby areas, the Surigao Metropolitan Water District (SMWD) will implement a water supply scheduling scheme starting August 26, 2026 to ensure the equitable distribution of limited water resources.

Under the new schedule, water availability will rotate across various barangays, with residents experiencing varying durations of water supply, low water pressure, or temporary interruptions depending on their location and elevation. Most areas will be managed through a valve adjustment system.

The water scheduling scheme is part of SMWDโ€™s efforts to maximize available resources and support the community during these challenging times. We encourage everyone to cooperate by conserving water and staying informed about the schedule.

WATER INTERRUPTION ADVISORY ๐Ÿšฐ

Surigao Metropolitan Water District (SMWD) informs the public of a temporary water service interruption due to essential pipeline maintenance and repair work.

ADVISORY DETAILS

WHAT: Low Pressure to No Water

AFFECTED AREAS: Barangays Washington, Taft, San Juan, Canlanipa, Caniog, Luna, and Sabang

START TIME: August 28, 2026 (Friday) at 8:00 AM

EXPECTED COMPLETION: August 29, 2026 (Saturday) at 12:00 MN

CAUSE: Interconnection activity for the 14-inch diameter transmission pipeline along Hubasan Bridge, in connection with the emergency repair of the 14-inch transmission line.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Store Water: All residents in the affected barangays are strongly advised to store enough water prior to the schedule.
