On October 17th, the great great granddaughter of Gliceria Marella Villavicencio, Joanne Quiblat Callueng, and fam quickly met the Emmy award-winning, Mark Twain Prize awardee, and world-renowned tv host, writer, and comedian Conan O'Brien. Being a confirmed history buff, Joanne and fam presented Conan with a book about Gliceria Marella Villavicencio, the Godmother of the Philippine revolution, to add to his collection of historical books. We hope that Conan enjoys "Fierce Filipina", written by another Villavicencio descendant, Maxie Villavicencio Pulliam, and illustrated by the talented Jill Arteche, and that one day, he comes back to the Philippines and visits the historic town of Taal, Batangas.

Mabuhay to the completion of the restoration of the Shrine of Our Lady of Caysasay in Taal, Batangas, which was originally built in 1639! It predates the current Taal Basilica (The Minor Basilica and Parish of St. Martin of Tours) which was completed in 1876. At that time, the Pansipit River was still a wide waterway where Spanish galleons could still navigate its way from Balayan Bay to what is now Taal Lake! Taal town was still located around the shores of the lake in what is now known as San Nicolas, where the ruins of the old Basilica can now be found.

Quiblat-Chongson family get-together at Taal Villavicencio Wedding Gift House, with Michael Quiblat, Christine Chongson-Quiblat and Max who are visiting from Ohio. The 3 children in this photo are 6th generation descendants of Don Eulalio Villavicencio who built this house in 1870 as a wedding gift to his wife Doña Gliceria Marella. The couple's portraits, by renowned 19th century Filipino painter Juan Luna, are displayed on the wall. Joyce Joven-Quiblat's (2nd from left) mom (Montserrat Villavicencio Joven) was their grandchild.
