Today, we pause to remember one of the most defining moments in our nation’s history — Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). Twelve years have passed, yet the memories of loss, courage, and resilience remain deeply etched in our hearts.

We honor the lives lost, salute the strength of survivors, and celebrate the unwavering spirit of hope that helped us rise again as one community, one people, one nation.

As we look back on that tragic day, our thoughts and prayers also go to our fellow Filipinos in Cebu and nearby areas who are now suffering from the devastation brought by Typhoon Tino — and to those in Luzon, as another super typhoon approaches.

May we continue to stand together in faith, compassion, and unity, and we pray that every family be kept safe from harm and despair.
