A playground on the beach – it doesn't get any better than that!

We've created a dedicated play area right on our beachfront, designed to keep the whole family entertained. There's a giant chessboard, oversized tic-tac-toe, Jenga, a pétanque court, and plenty more for little ones (and not-so-little ones) to enjoy.

Parents can relax in our beachfront lounge area with a clear view of the playground, or join in for some family fun. Either way, everyone's happy – the kids are occupied, and you've got the ocean breeze and a front-row seat.

Over the years, we've had the pleasure of hosting all kinds of groups: dive clubs who return every year, swim groups, tech diving expeditions, schools on educational programmes, families celebrating milestones, and friends who simply wanted to unwind together.

We understand that group travel comes with its own considerations, like different experience levels and varying interests. April 22 is Earth Day, a perfect opportunity to reflect on our relationship with the ocean and the small actions that help protect it.

Marine conservation and environmental awareness are at the heart of everything we do at Atmosphere. We're fortunate to have a spectacular and protected house reef, along with several small marine sanctuaries spread along Dauin's coast. Our dive centre operates with a strict no-touch, no gloves, no feeding, no anchoring policy, and we actively share a diving etiquette video with all our guests to promote respectful interactions with marine life.

But protecting the planet for the future starts with those who are the future. That's why we make a continuous effort to inspire the next generation to care deeply about the ocean. One example is our Ocean Rangers programme: an experience designed for children to learn marine life identification, enhance their snorkelling skills, and practice simple data collection methods. It builds foundational knowledge about sustainability, stewardship, and marine conservation in a fun and engaging way – turning curiosity into action.

Because the best way to protect the ocean – and therefore our planet – isn't just through policy or practice. It's by raising a generation who understands why it matters.

Last month, we paired kinilaw with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, but this time we're pairing chicken with red wine – and it works beautifully!

Most people reach for white wine with chicken, and that's often a safe choice. But when the chicken is grilled over charcoal and marinated in calamansi, lemongrass, and ginger like our Chicken Inasal, a lighter red wine can be even better.

The Craggy Range Pinot Noir from New Zealand's Te Muna Valley is the perfect match. Grown in a cool-climate vineyard with mineral-rich soils, this Pinot has a delicate, silky body and vibrant fruit notes. There's enough brightness to complement the citrus and aromatics in the marinade, but with just enough structure to stand up to the char and smokiness from the grill. It's elegant without overpowering the dish, and the wine's soft tannins enhance the chicken's tender texture.

Our sommelier Ed is always happy to guide you through unexpected pairings like this one. Sometimes the best matches are the ones you wouldn't think to try on your own!

Summer in the Philippines moves at a different pace. The mornings are warm and quiet, the reefs are full of life, and there's no rush to be anywhere.

From June to September, we invite you to slow down with us. Stay six nights and pay for five, or twelve nights for the price of ten. Snorkel alongside turtles on our house reef, dive as much as you'd like with complimentary Nitrox for certified divers, and spend afternoons at the spa or enjoying Happy Hour with your toes in the sand.

If you're travelling with family, July and August are especially welcoming: children under 12 stay free, and kids aged 5-11 can join a complimentary guided snorkelling tour to discover the underwater world just offshore.

Our island Negros Oriental is one of Asia's premier birdwatching destinations, and it's easy to see why. With wetlands, volcanic mountains, misty forests, and serene lakes all within reach, the variety of habitats – and the birds that call them home – is remarkable.

Over 315 bird species have been recorded in the province, including both indigenous and migratory species. Among them are some of the Philippines' most unique and vibrant birds:

- Visayan Hornbill: A critically endangered bird with a distinctive curved beak and black-and-white plumage.
- Maroon-Naped Sunbird: A small bird with shimmering plumage and a splash of maroon on its nape.
- Magnificent Sunbird: True to its name, this sunbird dazzles with its metallic hues.
- Visayan Bulbul: A melodious songbird with soft brown feathers.
- Orange-bellied Flowerpecker: A tiny, vibrant bird that’s a delight to spot.
- Visayan Drongo: A sleek, black bird with impressive aerial acrobatics.
- Elegant Tit: A charming bird with a striking combination of black, white, and yellow.
- Yellowish White-eye: A sociable bird often seen flitting in flocks.
- Nankeen Night Heron: A nocturnal wader with a striking cinnamon and white plumage, often seen near wetlands or perched silently by the water’s edge.
