A Villager to a Businessman.
Abdullah Baig is a self-made businessman and pioneer in the hospitality industry who came to Gilgit from Hunza in the 1950s. As a youngster from a family of six siblings, he moved to Gilgit for education and became a well-known businessman, entrepreneur, and hotelier.
In more than 50 years of business experience, he has experienced many ups and downs. It was the first time that a city like Gilgit had a rapidly changing economy through small businesses and industries that were new to the natives of the northern region. Social development had moved from rural to urban so rapidly, while businesses were opening up in burgeoning economies and prototyping.
During the late 1970's and early 1980's Abdullah Baig had a great deal of experience as well as creative entrepreneurial ideas. A number of these strategies led to the success of his business venture. His middle age was spent experiencing a lot of international tourists. People from abroad have met him, referring to him as a contact person for northern areas.
Mostly known for his jolly and humorous personality, Mr. Beg attracts a large number of locals as well as foreigners to his Sense of Humor, which makes him very popular among his community.
As well as that, Mr. Baig authored articles for local newspapers. He was a fact-finder and a research-based journalist in the 2000s. His editorials were full of information and future predictions. Besides that, he wrote a book about his family tree ancestry history, Mr. Baig is now working on a multilingual dictionary for local languages; more than 10000 words are being added, and the dictionary will be published soon.
After his successful entrepreneurial career and business, Mr. Baig is currently enjoying his retirement time. His experience and business acumen serve as an asset to many people who are looking for business advice and strategies. A lot of students of the University have come to see Mr. Baig for guidance in their career path and guidance in the area of business, especially in the area of hospitality and tourism.
