Every year, Pakistan Army and provincial government organize this event with the aim to boost up tourism and socio-economic activities in the valley.
The festivities of this colorful event will continue up to Defense Day of Pakistan (September 06). Giving details of the event, Laila Farah Naz said that Festival will have live concerts from renowned artists Gulpanra, Fakhir, Rabeel, cultural dances and a wide range of stalls for families.
Some of the major attractions are Adventure Sports, Water Sports, Entertainment, Musical Program, fun-fare for kids, Circus, Tent city, Shopping Arcade, Food Court, Trade Exhibition, Fire Works, Cricket & Polo Match, Tent Pe***ng and Jeep Rally.

Kalam (Pashto: کالام ) is a cool heaven for tourists which is located at distance of 99 km from mingora in the northern upper reaches of Swat valley along the bank of Suvastu river in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

Kalam is surrounded by lush green hills, thick forests and bestowed with mesmeric lakes, meadows and waterfalls which are worth seen landscapes. It is the birth place of Swat river which forms with confluence of two major tributaries of Gabral river & Ushu river.

At 29 kilometres (18 miles) from Bahrain and about 2,000 meters (6,600 feet) above sea level, the valley opens out, providing rooms for a small but fertile plateau above the river.[1] Here, the metalled road ends and shingle road leads to the Ushu and Utrot valleys. From Matiltan some snow-capped mountains are visible including Mount Falaksir 5,918 meters (19,416 feet), and another unnamed peak 6,096 meters (20,000 feet) high.There are a lot of grand hotels in Kalam, where one can stay for night and enjoy the cool breeze of Swat river.

BEHRAIN
A quarter of an hour past Madyan, the road squeezes through Behrain. Tourists stop to shop or have a look around for beautiful carved wood chairs and tables and other handicrafts. Behrainis are a mix of Pashtuns and Kohistanis (Torwali). Behrain is ten kilometres north of Madyan and only slightly higher, at about 1,400 metres (4,500 feet). It is another popular riverside tourist resort, with bazaars worth exploring for their handicrafts. Some of the houses have carved wooden doors, pillars and balconies. These show a remarkable variety of decorative motifs, including floral scrolls and bands of ornamental diaper patterns almost identical to those seen on Buddhist shrines and quite different from the usual Muslim designs. MADYAN

Madyan is a tourist resort on the Swat River, At 1,321 meters (4,335 feet) above see level, it is neither as cool nor as beautiful as Miandam, but it has many hotels of all price ranges, and being a large town has many tourist shops and restaurants, as well as a cinema.One of the trout farms is also here.The areas to visit in Madyan are chail & bishigram lakes.
