The Bamboo Getaway

In the mid-90’s this land was mostly unforested with a concrete bunker as the only structure. In the years since, we’ve planted trees and groves of bamboo to use for building and art. On top of the bunker we built a two story, open air home, overlooking the ocean. In the years that followed, Jo designed and built the unique bamboo treehouses called Hooches, for which the Tropical Treehouse came to be known. While the Hooches did not survive the powerful Hurricane Maria in 2017, the large main house has been restored to its former glory. It offers a truly rejuvenating experience. Aesthetically unique in craftsmanship and surrounded by our lush tropical oasis, it is not just a treehouse, it is a tree palace!
