Coqui del Mar survived Hurricane Maria and has gone on to help in housing locals, community workers, and to help bring tourism back to Puerto Rico. We do have electricity, water and wifi, and we have a fully functioning generator and water cisterns, just in case. We have doubled down on Puerto Rico and have reinvested to make Coqui del Mar better than before, including adding a pool, terrace, and streaming TV service.
For a truly Puerto Rican experience, we are your place. Nestled into a beachside community, we are 30 seconds walk to the beach, convenient to SJU airport, and walking to many restaurants and bars. Our apartment style units provide privacy for you, while our group areas such as our pool, whirlpool bath and terrace, allow for mingling with other guests.
We are gay owned, gay friendly, sustainability focused, and 100% Puerto Rican. If you expect a typical resort style stay with hundreds of other tourists, that is not us...Here, you will feel like a local and feel among family. We are not for everyone, but for those that enjoy a local experience.
When we say, feel at home, we mean it. We are 420 friendly and have designated areas (outdoors) to smoke up as you like. Puerto Rico legalized medicinal ma*****na, but smoking in public remains illegal. At Coqui del Mar, you are in a safe zone (just respect the designated areas and never indoors). If you are traveling from a state that offers legalized ma*****na, make sure to read our blog on how to have your license recognized here during your vacation.
We offer not one, but two pools, plus a whirlpool bath. One of our pools does allow for clothing optional - it’s your vacation...Tan wherever you damn well feel like! Our whirlpool bath and smaller pool remain traditional. We offer a small oasis where you can be as you like, be accepted as you are, and rejoice in being human.
We also provide many extras without the extra price, including bicycles, boogie boards, snorkel gear, umbrellas, beach chairs, beach towels, super fast internet, ROKU TV, and much more.
Rob and Vianney, the owners of Coqui del Mar, typically live in Bordeaux, but came back to Puerto Rico after Maria and now reside in between the two. We hope to have a chance to meet you!
