If you have time, I highly recommend getting up when the roosters crow, lacing up your sneakers, grabbing a water bottle and taking a hike up Mt Pirata. Stunning views and a lovely moderate difficulty hike up a paved road with plenty of areas to rest and enjoy the scenery along the way.

Not every trip to Vieques is beach days and sunsets… sometimes it’s a whole lot of elbow grease! 💪

This last visit this looked like:
• scraping + painting the twin room (painting cement = not for the faint of heart 😅)
• fixing a wobbly ceiling fan
• redoing all the kitchen grout with epoxy grout (equal parts necessary and nerve-wracking)
• better securing kitchen shelves, refreshing linens, and restocking supplies
• painting the rear stair railing + floor
• landscaping 🌿

…and plenty of “while we’re at it…” projects along the way.

It’s not always glamorous, but we genuinely love taking care of this little place and making it better for each guest who walks through the door. 🫶🏻

Little by little, it keeps getting better. Already dreaming up what’s next… 👀

30 minute hike to a new to us beach certainly did not disappoint 💯… even if I did likely break a toe on a low cut stump. 🥴 Lesson learned: wear good shoes.

Question for beach lovers - which beach towel type do you prefer? 🏖️ Sample pictures included for reference.

1️⃣ The standard beach towel (pros: soft and absorbent, cons: very slow to dry, take up more space, sand tends to stick fo them)

2️⃣ Turkish linen towels (pros: quick drying, sand doesn’t stick, packs small, can be easily tied, cons: less absorbent and not fluffy)
