🏠 Jericho Houses… Stories of Mud and Stone 🌴
In Jericho, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world,
houses tell history before words do.
🔸 The Mud House
Common from the late Ottoman period until the 1950s.
Built from mud and straw, simple and perfectly adapted to Jericho’s heat.
It was the home of farmers and modest families, close to the land.
🔸 The Stone House
Appeared mainly in the late Ottoman era and early British Mandate (1900–1930).
Built with local limestone, arched windows, and red-tiled roofs.
Often owned by well-off families or officials, surrounded by palm groves.
