Beach board ready! With official bathing season opening tomorrow (a month late due to virus) the boardwalk in Alvor is being painted today with the social distancing signage. And the beach is all ready too, as is the weather!

Our recently refurbished 3 bedroom 2 bathroom penthouse apartment is on the 3rd floor (with lift) and has an amazing 50m2 balcony with excellent sea views. It is within 15 minutes walk to the center of Alvor and the fantastic beach. There is a minimarket, bar/café and swimming pool (note there is a small daily charge for pool use) in the building.

It features 2 double bedrooms, one twin bedroom, 2 bathrooms, a large open plan kitchen, dining area and seating area, which has a single sofabed and a sofa that can be used as a bed. A cot is also available. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, flat screen TVs in the lounge and main bedroom, cable TV, high speed internet with wifi, washing machine, air conditioning, electric heaters for the winter and fans for the summer.

The extensive balcony has a barbeque, dining area and seating including a swing seat. The balcony is open with views in 3 directions, mainly South, with amazing sea views. It overlooks the pool area on one side. The ideal space for everything from breakfast to an evening drink.

This is a no smoking apartment (guests may smoke on the terrace only) and no pets are allowed.

The pool is a separate business and there is a daily charge (at the time of writing 4 euros per day, 3 for children under 12). The pool is huge, there is also a café/bar, indoor soft play area, trampoline and extensive shaded grounds with tables and chairs. You can come and go during the day and take inflatables etc if you wish. The pool is generally very quiet except July and August and not normally very busy even then.

Street parking is available on a first come first served basis- if busy directly in front of the buiding there is a small side street on one side and a long side street opposite which has always in our experience had parking.

Alvor has supermarkets, many small shops, a traditional market and even a kids play area in the old castle. However the highlight is the fantastic beach, several kilometres of unbroken golden sand, with an accompanying boardwalk practically the whole length, which loops in a figure 8 when it meets the nature reserve estuary area, giving a total length of around 9 km. There is also a fantastic clifftop walk toward Portimao.

Alvor has over 100 cafes, bars and restaurants, the fishing harbour is favoured for river front restaurants which BBQ the days catch and serve it to you overlooking the estuary, harbour etc. Boat

Outdoor photos of apartment. The amazing views of the sea and inland. The huge balcony of over 50m2, with bbq, dining area, seating, a swing seat- perfect for sitting out from breakfast to evening drinks. And in the same building on the -1 level one has a bar (Jose's Bar- not mine!), a minimarket and the entrance to Reino Encantado, which has the huge pool, play areas, indoor soft play area, trampoline and a cafe/bar.
