Our 2nd floor apartment is approximately 1.5km from the centre of the beautiful village of Alvor in the Western Algarve. It is a pleasant 20 minute walk into Alvor or a little longer if strolling, but there are a number of excellent restaurants and snack bars within the immediate vicinity and easy walking distance. ping a maximum of 8 people, plus 1 infant. There are two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and two bathrooms, each with toilet, bidet, bath and over-bath shower. The apartment is large, airy and fully air-conditioned should you require it. The open plan living area enjoys three sets of sliding doors accessing two balconies allowing you to bring the outdoors inside and let the breeze through. There are three balconies in total, one each facing south, east and west, so you can enjoy sitting out whether you seek shade or sun at any time of the day. The largest balcony is south facing and has a large table for al fresco dining. The apartment will comfortably sleep 6. However, there are 2 further foldaway beds or there is a further double sofa bed in the living room. We can also provide a travel cot and high chair free of charge. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and everything you need for self catering. There is a TV and DVD player in the living room and satellite TV with some English channels. There is a washing machine in the utility area along with iron and ironing board. Cleaning and towel/linen changes are all included. The apartment is on the beautiful Vila Marachique complex which has a large lagoon style swimming pool with a wonderful and safe children’s pool. The pools are set amid beautiful landscaped lawns with a children’s play area, pool table and snack bar which serves snacks, soft and alcoholic drinks. During summer months there are regular weekly BBQ nights by the pool. The pool area is private for the use of residents and their guests and is fenced and gated requiring an electronic pass to enter and exit for safety and security. Toilets and showers are available by the pool. The front of the building is accessed by steps, however, the building is wheelchair accessible using a lift from the basement car park. The apartment is also suitable for wheelchair users as it was purchased with our own disabled son in mind but please phone us to discuss your needs or requirements. Alvor itself has everything a family or couples could want. Although it has modern facilities it is essentially a fishing village. The bustling nightlife is mainly limited to the cobbled, pedestrianised, main streets,where there are lots of restaurants and bars. There are many quieter restaurants and bars dotted around as well and it is easy to find somewhere busy and bustling or quiet depending on what you are looking for. It would be impossible to list the excellent quality restaurants in Alvor, and after 15 years visiting we have yet to be disappointed. Alvor has miles of sandy beaches and even in high season it is possible to find a quiet spot if you walk along Praia do Alvor. If you like sandy coves there is Praia dos Três Irmãos where there are snack bars for drinks or lunch. We recommend a walk along the Rua Da Ribiera on the Ribeira de Odiáxere at sunset where you can sit in one of the bars and enjoy a drink as the sun goes down over the distant hills beyond Lagos.
