3. This is of a section of our verandah which faces a panoramic view of the sea and where we often had lunch.
He loved to sit on the verandah in the sun, where there is a view not only of the sea but also of the mountains to the east, not to mention our garden which we designed from bare earth when we moved in.

5. Here is the beautiful church in our village ,Prazeres, where Colin's funeral took place.Prazeres means pleasures -- just right for a place to live.

The tradition of putting scarecrows in the fields in Prazeres has been revived over the last few years. The wheat will be threshed by the antique threshing machine which parks in the churchyard each year at harvest time. In the background are some of the bunting for the annual festa in the village in August.

We haven't got the hang of putting photos in just one album. Hopefully a friend can help us in the next day or so.
In the meantime we are having an extra spring clean ready for the autumn. Who knew that gin can get stubborn sticky marks off glass? As we don't drink alcohol we had some spare for this job when our knowledgeable friend asked for alcohol to do the job. Don't worry daughter Eff and husband J, we didn't use your favourite.

We are new to facebook. We have been astonished at the response to our B&B. Guests have come from France, Portugal, Germany, Croatia to name just a few. They have all been friendly, appreciative and helpful. Some even feel like family members.
Each week we shall post a bulletin to keep everyone up to date. This has to be done between ironing sheets (something I have NEVER done before), making marmalade, caring for the chickens and baking a variety of cakes and biscuits. Copies of recipes are often requested!
It also involves getting to the local bakery in our village supermarket at 7.30 am to get the freshly baked croissants and bread. How can you resist!
