Tapadado Gramacho is a rural and stylish bed & breakfast style guesthouse in the beautiful Central Algarve close to the historical village of Silves with its shops, bars and restaurants. It’s uniquely situated in a nature and bird watching area bordering the river Arade, but also close to popular beaches and villages like Lagoa, Estômbar, Ferragudo and the larger town of Portimão. ho took shape from what was once an old farm belonging to the Semedo family, which has been converted into a stylish bed & breakfast in 2007. There are 6 B&B rooms and 3 self catering apartments available, all themed and decorated in an original and distinctive fashion, imparting unique experiences. There is a communal kitchen and a barbeque for all guests available. So, even if you stay in one of our bed and breakfast rooms, you can choose to stay “home” instead of having to go out for dinner every day. You can use the shared kitchen to cook your own meals and store your own food and drinks in one of the fridges. But in case you haven’t done your own shopping, you will have excess to the honesty bar which we filled up for you with plenty of nice local wines, beers and other refreshments. The Italians would call us "Agriturismo", but also the terms "Rural Boutique Hotel", "Rural Guesthouse" or "Bed and breakfast" would be correct to use. Anyway, if you are looking for a stylish well located place to stay, away from it all, while having excess to all the interesting destinations and beautyness of the Algarve, Tapada do Gramacho will be the perfect choice for you. New pet?

Last night we were surprised by a visit from a beautiful young fox. It didn´t seem to be afraid and one of our guests even was able to touch it. But, after some time the cat must have thought that enough is enough and decided to scare it off into the fields.

We believe yesterday evening was great success. All thanks to Claire who cooked us all a delicious menu. There was a choice between a vegetarian dish (spicy aubergine, spinach and crushed potato stacks with a white wine sauce) and chicken curry. For the kids there was chicken kebab and of course ice cream. The only negative issue we could mention would be the large amount of empty wine bottles in the bin😉.

Last week we got visited by a stork. No worries, no more babies😁. This young one just seemed to have lost its parents and was waiting to be found. We believe he finally was picked up after we have chased it into the fields, so its parents dared to get closer and take it with them into the air.

We have got 2 foxes being very curious last weeks. Shot this picture yesterday, through the fence of our garden. They come to visit us nearly every day now. Once they even came to our garden to play and watch us sitting on the sofa. Didn’t have a camera at hand at that time, but if they do it again I’ll put some proof online!

Yesterday the first dinner of the season took place at Tapada. Perfect weather, wonderful guests and not to forget the most important ingredient: delicious food! Thank you so much Claire, Hans and Denise!
