🇵🇹 Conheça os proprietários da Casa Avós Félix Lopes ❤️

Olá! Achámos que estava na altura de nos apresentarmos como deve ser.

Somos o Jorge e a Dulce, os orgulhosos proprietários da Casa Avós Félix Lopes, aqui na bonita Foz do Arelho, Portugal.

A nossa história começou nos Estados Unidos. Conhecemo-nos quando tínhamos apenas 15 anos, casámos aos 21 e, no próximo dia 30 de setembro, celebramos 42 anos de casamento! ❤️

Mas as nossas raízes estão aqui, na Costa de Prata. A Dulce nasceu no Bombarral e eu nasci aqui mesmo, na Foz do Arelho. Emigrei para os Estados Unidos aos 10 anos e a Dulce aos 12, mas Portugal sempre continuou a ser uma parte muito importante das nossas vidas.

Quando não estamos ocupados com um dos nossos projetos, alguns dos meus grandes interesses são correr, fotografia, viajar, gastronomia e automóveis, enquanto a Dulce adora cozinhar, jardinagem e viajar.

Em 2020, adquirimos à família as ruínas da casa dos meus avós e iniciámos a sua reconstrução. O nosso sonho nunca foi simplesmente criar um alojamento de férias. Queríamos preservar a história da nossa família na Foz do Arelho e partilhar um pouco dessa história com pessoas vindas de todo o mundo.

Assim nasceu a Casa Avós Félix Lopes. 🏡🇵🇹

Estamos agora na nossa 4.ª temporada a receber hóspedes e as maravilhosas avaliações e mensagens que temos recebido mostram-nos que estamos a conseguir exatamente aquilo a que nos propusemos. ❤️

E agora a nossa história continua a crescer! Recentemente, adquirimos a casa de campo dos avós maternos da Dulce, em A dos Ruivos, a cerca de 25 minutos daqui. Estamos a renová-la como Casa Avós Peixoto, com o objetivo de começar a receber hóspedes no próximo ano.

Em breve, poderemos oferecer duas experiências portuguesas diferentes: uma estadia junto à praia e à Lagoa de Óbidos 🌊 ou uma tranquila experiência rural numa casa de campo 🌿.

Se estão a planear uma viagem à maravilhosa Costa de Prata de Portugal, será um verdadeiro prazer receber-vos.

🇵🇹 Meet the Owners of Casa Avós Félix Lopes ❤️

Olá! We thought it was time to properly introduce ourselves.

We’re Jorge & Dulce, the proud owners of Casa Avós Félix Lopes here in beautiful Foz do Arelho, Portugal.

Our story began in the USA. We met when we were just 15 years old, married at 21, and on September 30th we’ll celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary! ❤️

But our roots are here on Portugal’s Silver Coast. Dulce was born in Bombarral and I was born right here in Foz do Arelho. I immigrated to the USA at 10 and Dulce at 12, but Portugal has always remained a very important part of our lives.

When we’re not working on one of our projects, you’ll usually find me enjoying running, photography, traveling, food and cars, while Dulce loves cooking, gardening and traveling.

In 2020, we acquired the ruins of my grandparents’ home from our family and began rebuilding it. Our dream wasn’t simply to create a vacation rental. We wanted to preserve our family heritage in Foz do Arelho and share a little piece of our family story with people from around the world.

That home became Casa Avós Félix Lopes. 🏡🇵🇹

We’re now in our 4th season welcoming guests, and their wonderful reviews and messages tell us we’re accomplishing exactly what we hoped to do. ❤️

And now our story is growing! We recently acquired Dulce’s maternal grandparents’ farmhouse in A dos Ruivos, about 25 minutes away. We’re renovating it as Casa Avós Peixoto, with plans to welcome guests next year.

Soon we’ll be able to offer two different Portuguese experiences: a beach & lagoon getaway 🌊 or a peaceful rural farmhouse stay 🌿.

Today we said goodbye to our guests from Porto after a wonderful 12-night stay at Casa Avós Félix Lopes.

Before leaving, they took the time to write this beautiful message in our guest book, telling us how comfortable and welcoming they found the house, how much they enjoyed their stay, and that they hope to return someday. ❤️

These handwritten messages are becoming part of the history of this house—memories from the people and families who have come through our doors and made Casa Avós Félix Lopes part of their own travels.

For Dulce and me, that makes hosting especially rewarding. 🏡🇵🇹

And now the house is being prepared once again, this time for our next guests arriving from London on Tuesday. 🇬🇧✈️🇵🇹

Today we said goodbye to our guests from Porto after a 12-night stay, and they left us with a wonderful message—and even a bottle of wine as a thoughtful gift. 🍷❤️

These are the moments that make hosting so rewarding. Knowing that our guests enjoyed the house, felt at home, and leave with happy memories of their time in Foz do Arelho means so much to us.

And now… the house gets refreshed and prepared for our next guests arriving from London on Tuesday! 🇬🇧✈️🇵🇹

More Than Furniture…It’s Over 100 Years of Family History ❤️🇵🇹

One of the things that makes Casa Avós Félix Lopes so special is that, although we rebuilt the house with modern comforts, we wanted to make sure our family’s history remained a part of it.

These pieces of kitchen furniture originally belonged to Dulce’s great-grandparents and are now more than 100 years old. Rather than allowing them to disappear with time, we decided to give them a new purpose at Casa Avós Félix Lopes.

Today, they continue to be used and enjoyed—just in a new home and by a new generation. 🏡❤️

For us, preserving pieces like these is about much more than decorating an Airbnb. It’s about honoring the people who came before us, preserving our Portuguese heritage, and sharing a little bit of our family’s story with guests from around the world.

Old furniture. New purpose. More than a century of memories. 🇵🇹

At Casa Avós Félix Lopes, the past isn’t simply remembered—it continues to live on.

🇩🇪 Another Wonderful Family, Another Memorable Stay ❤️🏡

Today we said goodbye to a wonderful family from Germany after their 9-day stay at Casa Avós Félix Lopes.

What makes this one especially meaningful is the message they sent us shortly after arriving:

“Wow Jorge! Such an amazing house! We already love it! ❤️ You build really a nice place to stay! Thank you so much for everything!”

Receiving a message like that at the beginning of a stay is incredibly rewarding. We put so much time, work, and attention into making Casa Avós Félix Lopes feel like a true home away from home, and knowing our guests immediately felt that means a lot to us.

But as one family departs, the work begins again! 🧹✨ Today we’re getting everything cleaned, refreshed, and ready to welcome our next family arriving tomorrow from Switzerland. 🇨🇭

That’s the rhythm of summer at Casa Avós Félix Lopes—families arriving from around the world, memories being made, goodbyes being said, and then getting everything just right to do it all over again. ❤️🇵🇹
