Flower Festival of Madeira Island
The Flower Festival, one of the main events of Madeira Island, takes place annually during the month of May, adorning the city of Funchal with vibrant colors and intoxicating aromas. The celebration, which lasts for 24 days in 2024, from May 2nd to 26th, is an ode to spring and the island's natural beauty.

Flower Carpets:

Avenida Arriaga is transformed into a true floral carpet, with mosaics created by local artists using thousands of flowers. The public can admire the creativity and beauty of the carpets, which depict various themes, from island landscapes to abstract figures.

Flower Exhibition:

At Praça da Restauração, a grand Flower Exhibition showcases a stunning variety of flowers and ornamental plants cultivated in Madeira. Orchids, anthuriums, gerberas and many other species enchant visitors with their colors and fragrances.

Flower Market:

A Flower Market with fresh products and creative arrangements offers the opportunity to take a piece of the party home. Exotic flowers, ornamental plants, souvenirs and gastronomic products make up the market, providing a unique sensory experience.

Allegorical Parade:

The highlight of the festival is the Allegorical Parade, a grand parade with floats decorated with flowers and costumed revelers. Music, dance and joy spread to the public that follows the parade through the streets of the city.

Other Attractions:

The Flower Festival program also includes musical concerts, folk dance performances, workshops, philharmonic band performances and activities for children.
