Há quem precise de máquinas para cortar o mato. Nós temos uma equipa que trabalha enquanto come. 🐐

Na "𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝘇 𝗱𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮", as cabras e as ovelhas não estão cá apenas para fazer companhia aos hóspedes.

Ao pastarem, ajudam a controlar a vegetação e a manter os terrenos cuidados, fazendo parte de uma forma mais natural de viver e cuidar da quinta.

Não cumprem horários, não precisam de instruções e têm uma enorme vantagem: gostam genuinamente do que fazem.

Some people need machinery to clear the undergrowth. We have a team that works while it eats.

At "𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝘇 𝗱𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮", our goats and sheep aren't here just to keep our guests company.

As they graze, they help manage vegetation and maintain the land, playing their part in a more natural way of living and caring for the farm.

They don't work to a schedule, don't need instructions and have one big advantage: they genuinely enjoy what they do.

🌙 𝐀 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐚 𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐜̧𝐨𝐮.

Foi numa noite de lua cheia, em 2015, que surgiu a decisão de recuperar este lugar.

A Lua, a cadela da família, também estava presente. O nome desta casa ficou ligado às duas: à noite em que tudo começou e à companheira que fez parte desse momento.

A Casa da Lua foi a primeira casa adquirida na quinta e marcou o início do projeto que hoje conhecemos como "𝙌𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙖 𝙁𝙤𝙯 𝙙𝙖 𝙇𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙖".

Entre a pedra recuperada, o espaço exterior e a paisagem em redor, é uma casa com uma história que merece ser contada.

🌙 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧.

It was on a full moon night in 2015 that the decision was made to restore this place.

Lua, the family dog, was there too. The house takes its name from both: the night when everything began and the companion who shared that moment.

Casa da Lua was the first house acquired on the estate and marked the beginning of the project now known as "𝙌𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙖 𝙁𝙤𝙯 𝙙𝙖 𝙇𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙖".

With its restored stone walls, outdoor space and surrounding landscape, this is a house with a story worth telling.

🐾 A 𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐦 e o 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐢 dividem o trabalho sem nunca terem combinado nada.

Ela senta-se no caminho, de frente para quem possa aparecer, e f**a ali o tempo que for preciso.
Ele prefere a erva. Deita-se à sombra de uma árvore ainda jovem, sempre com um pau ao alcance da pata, não vá alguém lembrar-se de o atirar.
Uma pastora alemã e um border collie. Duas maneiras muito diferentes de tomar conta do mesmo sítio.
Quem chega à 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐳 𝐝𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚 é recebido pelos dois. Cada um à sua maneira.

🐾 𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐦 and 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐢 share the job without ever having agreed on it.
She sits on the path, facing whoever might appear, and stays there for as long as it takes.
He prefers the grass. He lies down in the shade of a young tree, always with a stick within reach of his paw, just in case someone feels like throwing it.
A German Shepherd and a Border Collie. Two very different ways of looking after the same place.
Anyone arriving at 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐳 𝐝𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚 welcomed by both of them. Each in their own way.

🔊 Quase não se vê. Mas ouve-se bem.
Aumente o som e, se puder, ponha os auscultadores.
Na 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝘇 𝗱𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮, há noites em que a paisagem quase desaparece, mas os sons f**am ainda mais presentes.
Gravámos este vídeo há dias, quase de noite. É um v***o a bramir, do outro lado do vale.
É a época da brama, quando os machos fazem ouvir os seus chamamentos, sobretudo ao amanhecer e ao anoitecer.
Quem f**a cá e ouve isto pela primeira vez costuma fazer a mesma pergunta:
«Mas o que é que está a fazer este som?»
É um v***o. E está mesmo aqui ao lado.

At Quinta Foz da Lousa, there are nights when the landscape almost disappears, but the sounds become even more present.
We recorded this video a few days ago, just before dark. It’s a red deer roaring somewhere on the other side of the valley.
It’s the rutting season, when males make their presence heard, especially at dawn and dusk.
Guests hearing this for the first time usually ask the same question:
“What’s making that sound?”
It’s a red deer. And it’s right here, close by.

🌿 Segunda-feira é feriado. O fim de semana ganha mais um dia.

No sábado, ainda trazemos a semana na cabeça. No domingo, já andamos mais devagar. E na segunda-feira, o dia que sobra, ninguém tem pressa de fazer as malas.

Na Quinta Foz da Lousa, temos sete casas, para duas a seis pessoas, todas com pequeno-almoço incluído.

🐾 Apresentamos o Belfegor.
É o gato da quinta e porta-se como se a quinta fosse dele.
Caminha sobre o xisto sem fazer barulho, aparece quando ninguém o chamou e desaparece mal alguém o procura.
Se vier à Quinta Foz da Lousa, não se preocupe em procurar o Belfegor. Ele encontra-o quando lhe apetecer.

He's the estate cat, and he behaves as if the whole place belongs to him.
He walks across the schist without a sound, turns up uninvited and disappears the moment someone goes looking for him.
If you come to Quinta Foz da Lousa, don't bother looking for Belfegor. He'll find you when he feels like it.

Hoje fotografámos este diospireiro. E vamos voltar a fotografá-lo exatamente a partir deste ponto.

Mesmo lugar, mesmo enquadramento, mesma hora. Daqui a três meses, seis meses e um ano. Este diospireiro ainda é tão jovem que quase se perde na fotografia.

A ideia é simples: mostrar uma coisa que raramente temos paciência para acompanhar. Uma árvore a crescer.

Guardem esta imagem. Vamos precisar dela para perceber tudo o que mudou.

Today we photographed this persimmon tree. And we’ll photograph it again from this exact spot.

Same place, same framing, same time of day. In three months, six months and a year. This persimmon tree is still so young that you can barely see it in the photograph.

The idea is simple: to show something we rarely have the patience to follow. A tree growing.

O nosso burro tem oito meses e chegou à quinta há quatro.

Tem um abrigo só para ele, mas não lhe liga nenhuma. Anda sempre atrás das cabras e está convencido de que uma delas é a mãe. À noite, dorme com elas e não há maneira de o convencer a f**ar noutro lugar.

Com as pessoas é a mesma coisa. Segue-nos pela quinta como um cão, vem meter conversa e, se houver comida por perto, é o primeiro a dar por ela.

Ainda não percebeu bem o tamanho que tem.

Our donkey is eight months old and arrived at the farm four months ago.

He has a shelter all to himself, but couldn’t care less about it. He follows the goats everywhere and is convinced that one of them is his mother. At night, he sleeps with them, and there’s no persuading him to stay anywhere else.

He’s the same with people. He follows us around the farm like a dog, comes over for a chat and, if there’s food nearby, he’s always the first to spot it.

He hasn’t quite worked out how big he is yet.

Cinco razões para não reservar connosco.

Não há televisão em nenhuma das casas. Se vem para ver futebol, vai f**ar zangado.

Nos últimos quilómetros, a estrada é estreita. Dá para todos os carros, mas exige alguma atenção.

A rede de telemóvel falha em vários pontos da propriedade. Não vamos pedir desculpa por isso.

Não há vida noturna. Às onze da noite, o barulho mais alto é o da ribeira.

E há animais à solta. Isto é uma quinta a sério, não é um cenário.

Five reasons not to book with us.

There are no televisions in any of the houses. If you're coming to watch football, you'll be annoyed.

The road is narrow for the last few kilometres. Any car can make it, but it requires some attention.

Phone signal drops in parts of the property. We're not going to apologise for that.

There is no nightlife. At eleven o'clock, the loudest thing here is the stream.

And there are animals roaming freely. This is a working farm, not a film set.
