Co-Creator Land Visit // July

Once a month, we gather with our Co-Creators in Portugal to connect, meet future neighbors, share ideas and continue shaping Amara together.

This July, we spent the day on the land (walking, imagining, discussing and slowly turning this place into our future home).

Amara is not just about building houses. It’s about creating a village and bringing it to life, together.

Want to know when our next land visit is and how you can join Amara?

Comment “AMARA” and we’ll send you all the details.

Meet Gonçalo, one of the people behind Amara.

Gonçalo comes from a family of builders, so construction has been part of his world for as long as he can remember. He’s also behind the beautiful Charm Nature in Azoia, near Sintra, where you can already feel a lot of what defines his approach: natural materials, local craftsmanship and architecture that belongs to its environment rather than imposing itself on it.

But what we love most about Gonçalo is the human behind the builder. He’s incredibly smart, a natural problem solver who somehow always finds a way forward, but he’s also a giant teddy bear with an enormous heart. Kind, respectful, grounded and deeply caring about the people around him.

He’s made it a personal mission to prove that we can build differently. Using natural and low-impact materials, sourcing locally whenever possible, working with local craftspeople, reducing the environmental footprint of construction and designing buildings that work with the land, climate and existing ecosystems.

For him, sustainability isn’t something you add to a project at the end. It starts with how and where you build, what you build with, who you build with, and the impact it leaves behind.

And with Amara, his ambition is to push this much further and make the village a real-life example of what more responsible, regenerative and human-centered construction can look like.

We’re very lucky to have his brain, his experience, and especially his big heart helping us build Amara. 🤍

Once a month, Amara comes to life.

Our Co-Creators gather to spend time together, meet the Amara team, connect with their future neighbors, and actively participate in shaping the project.

We brainstorm, exchange ideas, challenge perspectives and co-create around the different dimensions of life at Amara (from health, education and food to art, sport, nature and community life).

This video is a little glimpse into our latest gathering.

Because Amara is not just a place we are building. It’s a community we are creating together, one gathering at a time.

What if we could understand our body and mind through the best of ancient wisdom, modern science, and new technology?

Xico, neuroscientist and founder of MūLabs, is leading Amara’s Health Pillar, bringing together the different health experts within our community.

Our group already includes neuroscientists, general doctors, integrative medicine practitioners, Kundalini teachers, shamans, elderly care specialists, as well as specialists in women’s and children’s health.

Together, we’re exploring what a Health Center at Amara could really be. Not just a place to go when something is wrong, but a space to better understand our bodies and brains, learn how to take care of them, and explore health through different lenses (from ancestral medicine to the latest science and technology).

We’re also looking at how health can connect with the other layers of Amara: wellness, sport, art, education and nature.

Imagine doing yoga inside an immersive light dome while neurofeedback helps you identify and understand your different states of focus. Or bringing ancient healing practices together with tools that allow us to better understand what is actually happening in our bodies.

There is a lot to explore, and that’s exactly what we’re starting to build together 🤍

Welcome Ruth 🤍

Ruth works in AI, but with a rather unusual perspective.

While many see artificial intelligence as a tool to accelerate productivity, she sees it as an opportunity to free ourselves from work that no longer serves us, so we can dedicate more time to what truly matters: living, connecting, creating, and taking care of ourselves and each other.

She describes it as “almost going back to our roots”, a more holistic way of life where technology supports human flourishing rather than replacing it.

We’re happy to have you with us, Ruth. Welcome to the Amara family. 🤍

At Amara, sport is not only about fitness.

It is about staying playful.

When we play, we become more present. We stop overthinking. We enter a state of flow where learning happens naturally, connections feel easier, and challenges become opportunities rather than obstacles.

Whether through yoga, tennis, wakesurfing, dancing or simply exploring nature, movement teaches us skills that extend far beyond sport: resilience, focus, adaptability, confidence and joy.

Because sometimes the best way to grow is not to work harder, but to play more.

One of the things that excites us most about Amara is the creative energy already emerging within the community.

Artists, musicians, filmmakers, writers, photographers, designers and cultural innovators are joining from around the world, each bringing their own perspective, stories and talents.

Imagine ending the day with a concert by the lake, discovering an exhibition created by a neighbour, attending a film screening under the stars, joining a creative workshop, or collaborating on a project with people from completely different disciplines and cultures.

Our vision is not simply to create spaces for art, but a culture where creativity is part of everyday life. A place where artistic expression, curiosity and cultural exchange naturally emerge through the people who call Amara home.

Because great communities are not only built with stone and wood. They are built through stories, music, ideas and shared experiences.
