Lunch at O Sargo 🌊🍴

Another west coast favourite — O Sargo at Praia do Monte Clérigo.

We stopped for lunch and loved it: a relaxed beachy atmosphere and a really varied menu. We tried the gyozas, beef carpaccio, nasi goreng, chicken kebab with lemon rice and a salmon poke bowl — all delicious.

It’s a lovely one to combine with a day exploring the west coast from Vivenda Oceanis.

Top tip: Praia do Monte Clérigo gets very busy in the summer and parking can mean quite a long walk down to the beach. Head over out of season if you want it a little quieter and easier to park.

An afternoon at Praia da Cordoama 🌊

Just around a 30-minute drive from Vivenda Oceanis, Cordoama feels a world away from the calmer south coast — huge stretches of sand, dramatic cliffs and proper Atlantic waves.

The kids had already tackled their surf lesson here, so we headed back for an afternoon of wave jumping, swimming and enjoying one of our favourite west coast beaches.

Wild, windswept and beautifully unspoilt — definitely worth the short drive from Praia da Luz. 🌊☀️

🏄‍♂️ Surf’s up in the Algarve!

A brilliant morning learning to surf with Salty Wave Surf School — and they both managed to stand up! 🙌🌊

The sea was pretty choppy with short wave periods, so getting out past the breakers was almost as much of a challenge as catching the waves, but such a good experience and they absolutely loved it.

A big thank you to Salty Wave for moving the lesson to Porto de Mós after checking the conditions. We were very grateful to avoid the 2m breakers at Cordoama on the west coast that morning! 😅

Surfing is a great activity to save for one of those cloudier Algarve days when it’s not quite pool or beach-lounging weather — and there are some fantastic surf beaches within easy reach of Praia da Luz. 🏄‍♀️

Definitely one for the holiday activity list. ☁️🌊

Beach days in the Algarve ☀️🌊

A gorgeous day at the beach, with a few very chilly swims across the bay 🥶🏊‍♀️ — definitely colder than it looks!

Then into Praia da Luz for a lovely lunch at A Rocha🥗🐚, followed by more sunshine and sand.

Blue skies, good food and family time… pretty hard to beat 💙🇵🇹

A brilliant first diving experience for the kids today with Blue Ocean Divers 🤿🌊

They absolutely loved their Discover Scuba day — such a friendly, professional team who made them feel completely safe and confident from the start. And what a first dive… an octopus 🐙, lots of colourful fish 🐠 and plenty to talk about afterwards!

Would definitely recommend Blue Ocean Divers to families staying with us who fancy trying scuba diving while they’re here. 💙

Next up for us… night snorkelling in search of bioluminescence ✨🌊

Salema is a gorgeous beach only 10km (15 mins) along the coastal road from Vivenda Oceanis - Apt A, definitely a beach to visit for day trips and long lazy lunches ❤️ 🏖️ 🌞
