Is there anything better than wood fired pizza? 🍕
Yes! Wood fired pizza with wine! At the windmill you can choose to enjoy a pizza night, made with fresh ingredients from our land, or you can enjoy a Portuguese wine tasting, where you will drink and learn about portuguese wine from our resident expert Simon. What he doesnt know about wine is not worth knowing! And for a real treat why not combine a pizza night with a wine tasting, It’s fun, it’s yummy, and you might even learn something! 🍷

Sim! Pizza cozida em forno de lenha e vinho! No moinho de vento, poderá optar por uma noite de pizza, feita com ingredientes frescos da nossa horta, ou por uma prova de vinhos portugueses, onde poderá degustar e aprender sobre vinhos portugueses com o nosso especialista residente, Simon. O que ele não sabe sobre vinhos não vale a pena saber! E para uma experiência ainda mais especial, que tal combinar uma noite de pizza com uma prova de vinhos? É divertido, é delicioso e ainda se pode aprender alguma coisa!

We are excited to see the weather forecast for the week ahead. There will be some rain! After months of heat we look forward to some fresher weather. It’s a great excuse to cosy up with a loved one in the windmill and hear the pitter patter on the roof.

Estamos ansiosos para ver a previsão do tempo para a próxima semana. Vai chover! Depois de meses de calor, estamos ansiosos por um clima mais ameno. É uma ótima desculpa para se aconchegar com alguém querido no moinho de vento e ouvir os pingos a cair no telhado.

This year we have had a great crop of melons. and the best way to eat a melon? Well, we love to pick one and eat it there and then, preferably with our feet in the river! Guests at the mill are welcone to pick a melon, as long as stocks last!

Este ano tivemos uma grande colheita de melões. E qual a melhor forma de comer um melão? Bem, adoramos colher um e comê-lo ali mesmo, de preferência com os pés no rio! Os hóspedes do moinho estão convidados a colher um melão, enquanto durarem os stocks!

Every year at Fadagosa one crop in the vegetabke garden outshines the others, and this is the year of the tomato! There have been many and there have been some real whoppers! Our favourite variety is the coração de boi, meaty, sweet and juicy, eaten best raw with olive oil and basil. Delicious!!!!

Todos os anos, em Fadagosa, uma colheita da horta destaca-se mais do que as outras, e este ano é o ano do tomate! Já tivemos muitas colheitas, algumas realmente enormes! A nossa variedade favorita é o Coração de Boi, carnudo, doce e suculento, melhor apreciado cru com azeite e manjericão. Delicioso!

Even after 7 years living here, Fadagosa is still serving us up some beautiful surprises and secret places. During the storms in February, the river rose very high and when it receded the shape of some of the river banks had changed dramatically. Whilst exploring these changes we found this secluded and sheltered spot, and we set up a hammock and chairs here.

If you come here on a sunny day, you are guaranteed to see one or two turtles sunbathing on their favourite rock. You will also see one of the kingfishers darting across the surface of the river, or sitting on a branch. And if you are lucky, and if the kingfisher is lucky too, you will see him diving for a fish. It really is a magical place and we hope never to get nonchalent to the sight of the neon blue kingfisher swooping or the turtle swimming.

Kingfisher creek is less than five minutes walk from the mill, and guests will receive a map reference to find it. After all, we want to keep it just between us, OK? Shhhhhh...

Mesmo depois de 7 anos a viver aqui, Fadagosa ainda nos reserva belas surpresas e lugares secretos. Durante as tempestades de fevereiro, o rio subiu muito e, quando baixou, a forma de algumas margens mudou drasticamente. Enquanto explorávamos estas mudanças, encontrámos este local isolado e protegido, onde montámos uma cama de rede e cadeiras.

Se vier num dia ensolarado, verá com certeza uma ou duas tartarugas a apanhar sol na sua pedra favorita. Verá também um dos guarda-rios a atravessar a superfície do rio ou pousado num galho. E se tiver sorte, e se o guarda-rios também tiver, poderá vê-lo a mergulhar para apanhar um peixe. É realmente um lugar mágico e esperamos nunca nos habituarmos à visão do guarda-rios azul néon a mergulhar ou da tartaruga a nadar.

O riacho Kingfisher f**a a menos de cinco minutos a pé do moinho, e os hóspedes receberão um mapa para o encontrar. Afinal, queremos manter isto só entre nós, ok? Shhhhhh...

The summer days are hot but the summer nights are mild and perfect for stargazing. Here at the windmill we have no light polution, and you will see shooting stars galore, and if you are lucky even the milky way!

Os dias de verão são quentes, mas as noites são amenas e perfeitas para observar as estrelas. Aqui no moinho de vento não temos poluição luminosa, e verá inúmeras estrelas cadentes e, se tiver sorte, até a Via Láctea!

People who haven’t been to the windmill ask ‘do uou have a swimming pool?’ The people who have been to the windmill know the answer. We have a pool that is miles long!!! And this time of year it is the perfect escape from the summer sun.

Quem nunca visitou o moinho pergunta: “Vocês têm piscina?” Quem já visitou o moinho sabe a resposta: temos uma piscina enorme!!!!! E nesta altura do ano, é o refúgio perfeito do sol de verão.
