Summer at Lombo Gordo Beach, São Miguel

Lombo Gordo is one of the most remote beaches on São Miguel, hidden in the municipality of Nordeste. Surrounded by high cliffs and accessed by a steep descent, it feels wild and untouched even in the middle of summer.

With its dark volcanic sand and powerful Atlantic waves, this is not a typical beach for comfort or crowds. It is a place for silence, raw nature and dramatic landscapes.

There are no services or lifeguards, and sea conditions can be strong, so caution is important.

A true hidden corner of the island, where summer feels more natural, quiet and authentic.
