What a summer!

Over the past few months, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming families, couples and travellers from all over the world into our little corner of the Serra do Espinhal.

And as the season begins to change, we’ve been reading through some of the beautiful words people have left us.

There is something very special about seeing O Homem Verde through the eyes of the people who stay here.

Summer in the mountains is beautiful.

But autumn might just be our favourite season.

Passing by Fragas de São Simão yesterday, we stopped off for some phone snaps while the sun was out. It is only half an hour from us here at O Homem Verde but we haven´t been here for some time. Spectacular scenery with a river and waterfalls and good swimming at the river beach! 30 minutes by car from O Homem Verde and well worth a trip - as we did yesterday - is the National Monument site of Conimbriga Roman ruins where you will find some very well preserved mosaics as well as a great little museum with artefacts found on site.
A good option to include on the same trip is the very close-by strange but stunning landscape offered at Buracas do Casmilo , of which more to follow...
