Five experiences. One extraordinary island.

Príncipe is a place where every day brings a new perspective. Wander rainforest trails, uncover hidden coves, dive into pristine waters and explore one of the world's most biodiverse island ecosystems, while discovering the island's cocoa heritage at Roça Sundy, a recently inscribed UNESCO World Heritage site.

These are the moments that define a stay on Príncipe Island.

Which would you experience first?

Sometimes, the best soundtrack is the island itself.

The rustle of the palms, waves meeting the shore and birdsong through the trees remind us that true luxury is found in moments of peace and connection.

There is so much to learn from the people of São Tomé and Príncipe. Their warmth, resilience, traditions and deep connection to these islands bring every journey to life. Beyond the beaches and rainforests, it's the people you meet and the stories they share that will make your visit truly unforgettable.

Some of Príncipe’s most beautiful traditions are also the simplest.

Built by hand, raced downhill and shared between generations, Trote and Gualala are part of the island’s school holiday traditions and a treasured part of childhood on Príncipe.

On 29 August, the streets around Praça Marcelo da Veiga will once again fill with the excitement, laughter and determination of the island’s young racers, as Trote & Gualala returns for its 3rd edition.

It’s a celebration of creativity, local craftsmanship and the joy of making something with your own hands, then watching it come to life. And perhaps a reminder that happiness doesn’t always need much. Sometimes, it’s a handmade wooden cart, a few friends and a race downhill.

Some hotels decorate with artwork. Belo Monte frames nature instead.

One of the first things you'll notice is that Belo Monte has been thoughtfully restored to celebrate its surroundings. Open windows invite in the sea breeze, verandas overlook the bay, gardens melt into the rainforest, and even a quiet moment in the bath comes with a view.

Here, the island is always part of the experience.

For many, taking part isn't just about preserving history. It's about celebrating identity, strengthening community and ensuring that this remarkable tradition continues for future generations.

When you experience the Auto de Floripes, you're not simply watching a performance – you're witnessing a living tradition that remains at the heart of life on Príncipe.

Every August, the island of Príncipe comes alive with one of its oldest and most treasured traditions. Dating back more than 200 years, the Auto de Floripes is a vibrant open-air performance that blends theatre, music and dance to tell the story of Floripes, a Moorish princess, and the legendary battle between Christians and Moors.

More than a performance, it is a celebration of Príncipe's cultural identity. Families and neighbours come together to rehearse, create costumes and pass the tradition from one generation to the next, ensuring this remarkable piece of the island's heritage continues to thrive.

If you're visiting Príncipe in August, witnessing the Auto de Floripes offers a rare opportunity to experience the island's living culture and the warmth of the community that keeps it alive.

Wild, green and wonderfully remote.

There aren't many places where lush rainforest and turquoise ocean exist quite so effortlessly side by side.

On Príncipe, every winding trail seems to end with a glimpse of the sea, and every stretch of coastline is framed by rich tropical forest.

Would you rather be next to the sea or surrounded by lush jungle? Thankfully, here, you don't need to choose.
