Dense forest covers much of Príncipe Island, forming a green interior that feels immersive from the moment you step inside.

Look closely, and the details begin to reveal themselves: layered leaves, fungi clinging to tree trunks, tiny growths thriving in the shade. These forests are a living ecosystem rich in biodiversity and delicate beauty.

It’s easy to be drawn to the coastline, but inland, from sweeping canopy to the smallest details underfoot, the forest reveals another side of the island worth noticing.

Volcanic rock shapes much of the coastline on São Tomé, creating natural pools and sheltered inlets, but it is also home to long, swimmable beaches edged with palm trees and warm Atlantic water. Lagarto Beach, beside Omali, is one of them. This is an easy place for morning swims and relaxed afternoons, just minutes from the capital.

It’s this mix of dramatic landscapes and accessible beaches that defines São Tomé and makes Omali's location so unique.

What if your morning walk looked like this? ☀️ 🥾 🏝️

Barefoot stretches of sand, shaded trails through thick vegetation, and ocean waves setting the pace for the day. On Príncipe Island, the landscape shapes how you move, explore and begin each morning.

✨Hotel Belo Monte is now open✨

Perched above rainforest and the Gulf of Guinea, this beautifully restored 1920s cacao plantation offers sweeping views across Príncipe’s coastline, with Banana Beach just below. The property combines heritage, nature, and elegant comfort, creating a place where guests feel connected to their surroundings.

Belo Monte features 15 charming rooms with generous indoor and outdoor living spaces, private terraces, and a small number offering private plunge pools.

The outdoor spaces unfold across terraces and a swimming pool, framed by rainforest and sea. Indoors, elegant lounges, a library, restaurant, bar, and the island’s only private cinema offer a series of welcoming retreats.

This is a place to slow the pace, stay present, and quietly sink into island life. We can't wait to welcome you!

For those travelling with kids, these islands offer something rare: freedom, safety, and a sense of discovery for all ages. On São Tomé and Príncipe, days unfold at an unhurried pace. Mornings might mean rock pools and warm, shallow water. Afternoons are for jungle walks, spotting crabs on the path, or swimming beneath waterfalls. There’s space to roam, climb, ask questions — and time to answer them.

It’s not about kids’ clubs or schedules. It’s about nature doing what it does best: holding their attention completely. Shoes are optional. Saltwater hair and muddy knees are encouraged.

On São Tomé and Príncipe, days are shaped by simple choices: a morning hike, a boat ride along the coast, a cold drink in the shade, or a long picnic where the beach feels entirely your own.

Follow the cacao journey from bean to bar. 🌱🍫 Book a guided walk to a hidden waterfall. Learn about the lost city of Príncipe’s first settlement, Ribeira Izé. Or do very little at all, with a book and the sound of the sea for company. Whether you’re here for a few days - or longer, if you’re lucky - the rhythm is unhurried.

But the scratch of sand between your toes, sun warming your shoulders and birdsong threading through the trees are all guaranteed to be part of the experience.

Set on the remote north-west tip of Príncipe Island, Sundy Praia sits within a former cocoa plantation, now reclaimed by rainforest and sea.

This is a place where it's easy to feel miles away from the rest of the world, and wildlife is part of the stay. From nesting turtles along the shore to parrots and kingfishers in the trees, and seasonal humpback whales pass by offshore.

It's a true escape for travellers seeking nature, privacy, and a slower rhythm.

From above, these islands tell a story. Shaped by volcanic terrain and centuries of cacao history, this is a landscape of rainforest-covered mountains, open coastline and quiet inland paths.

Hidden coves and long stretches of beach appear almost untouched from this vantage point, but life is everywhere. Fishing boats along the shore, villages tucked between forest and sea, cacao estates still woven into daily life.
