Winter in Madeira.
The weather contrasting to that in the rest of Europe - a very pleasant time to appreciate the outdoors and the swim in the ocean or a dip in our swimming pool. Fresh fruit all year round. Breathtaking sun sets right in front of our veranda. Less crowds. It’s a very recommended time to visit. Next year maybe?

The picture of the day!
A view of the Encumeada valley in the middle of the island, just 15 mins drive from our house.
And it is taken from our favourite mountain meditation spot, not far from the famous Poncha d’Água place.

For the adventurous ones there’s an option of taking a walk from our house down the mountain directly to the beach. It follows stone steps and agriculture path throughout an incredible scenery. There’s viewpoints all the time and it feels like travelling through a banana forest.
The beach is black with stones, with some occasional sand. It’s absolutely worth it!
Oh, and there’s also a choice of three restaurants down there.

Time to go down: 20 mins
Time to go back up: 35 mins (but depends on the amount stops to catch your breath)
