Due to Covid at first and then family issues we haven't been very active but watch out things are about to improve drastically and we'll be back in the game. Lots of vegetables planted and we're trying out companion planting: in a small way for now and we'll see how it goes.

An angel in our fabulous village of Moșna has just donated a brilliant, sturdy and safe shower bench for Tom who had a mini stroke a month ago and is now, what with that and his arthritis, at least temporarily in a wheelchair. As far as we know only two people in the village have this information. Stephen answered the gate and didn't recognise the lady, she just said 'pentru tata' (for Daddy). He thanked her profusely in Romanian but, since we don't know who it is, I wanted to say a very public, 'Thank you'. I'm close to tears at people's generosity and goodness.

The last crop of the year. Lots (and lots) of lovely red cabbage and turnip (swede, rutabaga, whatever it's called in your part of the world). I can see much cooking, blanching and freezing in my immediate future...

Beautiful ruby-red Quince and Cardamom Jelly and a new chutney - Spiced Pumpkin and Apple which we'll have to wait for a while to get the verdict but I'm hoping it'll be a good substitute for Mango Chutney with curries.

Providers of rural, relaxing, economical breaks in the heart of Romania.

Moşna is a beautiful traditional Transylvanian agricultural village with its own magnificent fortified church. Its green, gentle, rolling hills and Saxon farmhouses offer beautiful pastoral views and the opportunity to experience the slow, peaceful routine of village life.

We love it here, feel really at home and have worked hard to now be in a position to be able to share our beautiful space with guests of like mind. Our accommodation is set within our beautiful garden where we grow herbs, vegetables and flowers to attract bees and insects. Our fruit trees attract many visiting birds who nest within the garden and add to the seasonal diversity of wildlife.

We are about 10km from Mediaş, a picturesque, mediaeval town where the citadel wall has recently been restored and the central square is bordered by the fortified church and many bars and restaurants all with outside seating in the summer. Indeed, our proximity to places such as Sibiu, Sighişoara, Biertan, Cluj Napoca, Alba Iulia, Targu Mureş and the salt mines at Turda make this an ideal base for exploring. Off the beaten track, there are opportunities to explore ancient forests, find spectacular waterfalls and explore the gentle, volcanic landscape of the Transylvanian Plateau.
