Râșnov Citadel is a historic monument and landmark in Romania. It is situated in Râşnov, Brașov County, in the immediate vicinity of Brașov and you can admire it from out balconies :)

The citadel was built as part of a defence system for the Transylvanian villages exposed to outside invasions.
(considered to be built between 1211 and 1225)

Today is Saint's Nicholas Day!

Each year kids clean and shine their shoes and leave them near the door, because, if they have been good, St Nicholas will put sweets in their shoes. And if they were naughty, they will get a hazel twig

Saint Nicholas (15 March 270 – 6 December 343), also called Nikolaos of Myra, was a historic 4th-century saint and Greek Bishop of Myra (Demre, part of modern-day Turkey) in Lycia.
Because of the many miracles attributed to his intercession, he is also known as Nikolaos the Wonder-Worker. He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, such as putting coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him.
